OLAP Vs OLTP

A data warehouse supports both OLAP and OLTP. OLAP cubes are used to store and organize data from various sources in a logical structure for analysis. Complex schemas are required to develop and manage OLAP cubes. While administration of OLAP cubes requires significant work, the benefits they provide to analyzing large datasets and supporting business intelligence and decision making outweigh the costs. Both OLAP and OLTP systems are commonly employed together in organizations, with OLAP used to analyze data to enhance OLTP systems.

1. According to you which one is better? OLAP or OLTP

Online analytical processing (OLAP) and online transaction processing
(OLTP) are two types of data processing systems used in the data science area
(OLTP). Accordingly, one uses data to get important insight versus just operational
purposes. However, both methods may be used in significant ways to tackle data
challenges.
Analytical systems differ from transactional systems mostly in their
nomenclature. Each system is designed to handle a specific sort of computation.
OLAP is best suited for doing in-depth analyses of large datasets in order to
make more informed decisions. One of the most important aspects of an OLAP
system is its ability to assist business intelligence (BI) and other decision-making
processes.
However, OLTP is designed to handle a large volume of transactions.
Customers can utilize OLTP systems for self-service applications, such as checking
their bank balances or booking a room at a hotel (e.g., online banking, e-commerce,
travel reservations).
Based on your goals, it's important to select the best method for your scenario.
Is a single platform for business intelligence necessary? OLAP can help you get the
most out of a massive data set. Absolutely, I don't need to keep track of all of my
transactions every day. OLTP is built to handle a high volume of transactions in a
short period of time.
Be aware that traditional OLAP tools need knowledge in the design of
complex data models, as well as coordination across business departments. If your
online transaction processing (OLTP) system fails, you risk losing money and
damaging your company's reputation.
Organizations typically employ both OLAP and OLTP systems at the same
time. An OLAP system may analyze data for OLTP system enhancements through
data analysis.

2. Which one of them does Data Warehouse support?

Option 1: OLTP
Option 2: OLAP
Option 3: OLAP and OLTP
Option 4: Operational Databases
Option 5: None of these
If you have an OLAP cube, you've got an efficient data structure in your data
warehouse. A hypercube is a term for an OLAP cube. OLAP cubes are used to store and
organize data from a variety of unconnected sources into a logical structure for analysis. The
cube was capable of integrating data from a variety of sources, including those that had been
modified. The data is sliced and diced to suit specified criteria, allowing for different
perspectives for decision support, in the subsequent analytical procedures that follow.
Complex schemas are needed to develop and manage OLAP, which is one of the
technology's problems. Although administering and managing the cube takes a lot of work,
the benefits it offers the company are well worth the effort.
How to use OLAP becomes a tool that may be customized by the user depending on
his or her knowledge and skills. OLAP may become a crucial business tool with all the data
and information available in the data warehouse, including the ability to manipulate and
analyze the data from a variety of different viewpoints. A data warehouse's OLAP
capabilities may assist with a variety of tasks such as: strategic planning, budgeting,
reporting, various analyses, posing "what if" scenarios, business modeling, and more.
Reconciling data that was not previously linked
Use of OLAP in the organization's decision-making process is supported by a wide
range of data sources. OLAP may be used in a variety of business applications, allowing for
dynamic decision-making based on a wide range of data and information from a variety of
viewpoints.
The Actian Vector analytics can assist OLAP users in their efforts to streamline the BI
process. This cutting-edge technology, improved performance, and built-in analytics make
Actian Vector a compelling alternative to OLAP Cubes.
