Case 1:

Techsonic Industries, Inc.: Humminbird

Techsonic Industries had finally decided to use customer feedback & input/insights after several new
product failures, to begin development of their new range of products. In 1989, the fishing electronics
industry was experiencing a decline, and the company's sales and profits began to fall. Techsonic
Industries has one product line - depth sounders, and a strong brand – Humminbird. The company
has conducted substantial market research for three new products. Among these, one is an extension
of the existing line, while the other two would be new product lines for the company. The management
of Techsonic is deciding which one or more of the three new products would be most profitable to go
ahead with.
