‘‘That’s good to know, our lesson for today
is about the…...?’’

YES! That’s correct. Yes Sir!

Do you know what charts and graph are? Graphs and Charts are visuals that show
connections among information and are
planned to show the information in a
manner that is straightforward and recall.
Individuals frequently use diagrams and
outlines to exhibit patterns, examples and
connections between sets of information.
Diagrams might be desirable over show
specific sorts of information, while outlines
are great for other people. The diagram or
chart you pick will frequently rely upon the
central issues you need others to gain from
the information you've gathered.
Yes! Very good!
While many individuals use 'charts' and
And what are their differences? 'graphs' conversely, they are distinctive
visuals. Graphs are tables, outlines or
pictures that put together a lot of
information plainly and compactly.
Individuals use graphs to decipher current
information and make forecasts. Chart,
nonetheless, centre around crude
information and show patterns over the
long haul.

Yes! Very Good!

And now, do you know what are the
different type of graphs and how to use
them?

Let’s Begin, I will you show you some

picture and tell me what type of graphs and
charts they are and what they are used for

Picture 1
Line graphs illustrate how related data
changes over a specific period of time. One
axis might display a value, while the other
axis shows the timeline.
Line graphs are useful for illustrating trends
such as temperature changes during certain
dates.

Picture 2 Bar graphs offer a simple way to compare

numeric values of any kind, including
inventories, group sizes and financial
predictions. Bar graphs can be either
horizontal or vertical.
They are commonly used to compare
several categories of data.

Picture 3
A pictograph uses pictures or symbols to
display data instead of bars. Each picture
represents a certain number of items.
Pictographs can be useful when you want
to display data in a highly visual
presentation such as an infographic.

Picture 4
Is a storytelling system that uses a
board covered with flannel fabric, usually
resting on an easel.
It is a great help in playing educative
puzzles and show interrelationship between
different parts of a process.

Very good! And now we go to the different

type of chart.
Picture 5

Flowcharts help organize the steps,

decisions or actions in a process from
beginning to end. They often include more
than one starting point or endpoint,
displaying different paths you can take in a
process to get from start to finish.
Teachers can use them to further explain
complex processes in physics, biology,
history etc. Flow charts improve students’
organization skills and the learning process.

Picture 6

A pie chart presents the different parts of a

whole. It looks like a circle divided into
many pieces, much like a pie cut into slices.
The pieces are different sizes based on how
much of the whole they represent.
Pie charts can be used to show percentages
of a whole, and represents percentages at
a set point in time. Unlike bar graphs and
line graphs, pie charts do not show changes
over time.

Picture 7

Gantt charts illustrate project schedules.

The horizontal axis represents the
timeframe for the project in days, weeks,
months or years. The chart displays each
project task as a bar on the vertical axis.
The length of the bar depends on the start
and end date of the task, but sometimes
there is also a vertical line for the current
date.
Gantt charts are useful for monitoring a
project's progress once it's underway, too.
You can immediately see what should have
been achieved by a certain date and, if the
project is behind schedule, you can take
action to bring it back on course.

Are a type of chart in which a student lists

and examines two facets of a topic, shaped
like a “T,” used to separate information into
two categories.

Flip charts are large sheets of paper,

Picture 10 usually positioned on a tripod, to be used
with thick and differently coloured marking
pens. They are a simple tool that may seem
“old school”, but they have many
advantages when making presentations.

Now class, let’s consider graphs and charts

as a visual aid and remember A common,
effective teaching method is to use visual
presentations in a classroom. Charts and
diagrams are especially helpful, as they
enable students to see ideas visually laid
out in an organized way. Also, visual tools
can help the students process content and
to make connections more easily, charts
and graphs is effective communication
 through presentation of clear visual
summaries of important processes or set of
relationship through the combination of
pictorial graphic, lettering, numerical, or
verbal material. Visual aids help teachers
establish, explain, connect, and associate
ideas and concepts to make the process of
learning more interesting, enjoyable, and
effective.
