Radio Set Procedure

Remote / ACM

Microhard Radio Setup
Remote Config Settings
Connect a Rubber Ducky antenna to each Nano IP Series.

Connect the Power Adapters to available 120VAC outlets, and to the Nano IP Series. The SYS
LED will blink for approximately 1 minute while it readies itself for operation.

Using CROSSOVER Ethernet patch cable, connect PC card to rear ETHERNET connection on
Nano IP Series. (PC must have its Network Settings (TCP/IP Properties) set to STATIC with an
IP Address of (e.g.) 192.168.1.10 and a Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0.)

Open a Web Browser and enter the IP Address (192.168.1.254) of the Nano IP Series into the
URL address line.

Upon logging in there will be a username and password popup window appear.
UN: admin
PW: admin
Note: both are lower case
Welcome Window appears.

* Note the HW and SW versions.

Configuration:
Start the configuration by clicking the desired Menu topics on the left side of screen

System Configuration … (System Operation, Radio Description, Date, Time)

System Operation Mode: Bridge


Radio Description: 102-1-27-016-12W4 (Enter the LSD Location)
Date(yyyy-mm-dd): IE, 2012-05-16
Time(hh:mm:ss): 24Hr Time

Click Submit

Skip Network Configuration


Radio Configuration …

Network Mode: Standard


Operation Mode: Remote
Network Name: Choose a name that describes the network, this will be entered in all the
remote radios within the network
Link Rate: 230Kbps (Must set all Remote radios to this same value)
Unit Address: 2 (This must be unique to all other systems in the network)
RF Output Power: 30dBm (Must set all Remote radios to this same value)
Retransmissions: 10
Network Type: Point to Multipoint
Roaming Address 1
TX Control: On
Zone Restriction: None

Click Submit
Network Configuration / Local IP Config

IMPORTANT NOTE: After setting the Ethernet Port IP Config page you will no longer be able to
connect directly with an Ethernet Crossover cable to the Ethernet port of the MASTER radio. Use
the BlueTree Cellular Modem, Serial Cable or dhcp hub.

IP Address Mode: Static


IP Address: 192.168.3.2
‘3’ is the area/company where a group of VFD systems are present
‘2’ is the Remote ID for this System within the Network (must be unique
to others in this network, usually increment this number by one
as new units are added.

IP Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0


IP Gateway: 192.168.3.1 (this is the Master’s IP Address)
DNS Mode: Static
Preferred DNS Server: 192.168.3.1
Alternate DNS Server: 192.168.3.1

These are *Telus specific DNS addresses

Click Submit
Network Configuration / DHCP Server Config

NOTE: If the DNS server is not resolving, then simply Enable then Disable the DHCP
Server on the Remote radio.
Communication Utilizing a BlueTree Cellular Modem

Once the Ethernet Port IP Config settings on the MASTER and Local IP Config on the Remote
are complete and a BlueTree Cellular Modem is connected use the following method to connect
to the radios:

Open a Web browser window (IE) and type the IP address of the BlueTree Cellular Modem (ie,
http://173.181.138.58). This will bring up the MASTER Web UI page.

System Information / Radio Information

Observe the RSSI (dBm) Signal Strength.


Setup ACM System IP Address
Note: May need to set PC’s Network Settings (TCP/IP Properties) to STATIC with an IP Address
of (e.g.) 192.254.1.10 and a Subnet Mask of 255.255.0.0.), or choose Obtain an IP address
automatically.

Use direct cable connect to Lan2, open IE browser and enter http://169.254.1.1:5050
Setup the “Set System IP Addr” (Maintenance / Set System IP Addr):

Lan Name: Lan1 (port on ACM)


IP Address: 192.168.3.202
‘3’ is the area/company where a group of VFD systems are present
‘202’ is the ACM ID for this System within the Network (must be unique
to others in this network, usually increment this number by one as new
units are added.
IP Mask: 255.255.255.0
IP Gateway: 192.168.3.1 (this is the Master’s IP Address)
IP DNS Address: 192.168.3.1 (this is the Master’s IP Address)

Click SAVE

NOTE: If DNS address feature is not working the following command is necessary.
Connect to Lan2 of ACM with Ethernet cable
START / RUN / cmd (prompt), type telnet 169.254.1.1 (U:admin/P:admin)
Type: IPconfig (this displays the ports and addresses assigned to these ports)

Type: Netconfig –n Lan1 –i 192.168.3.33 –m 255.255.255.0 –g 192.168.3.1 –d 192.168.3.1

-n ACM port
-i: ip address (this is the ACM’s IP Address)
-m: mask address
-g: gateway (this is the Master’s IP Address)
-d: DNS server address (this is the Master’s IP Address)

Once the Ethernet Port IP Config settings on the MASTER and Local IP Config on the Remote
are complete and a BlueTree Cellular Modem is connected use the following method to connect
to the radios:

Open a Web browser window (IE) and type the IP address of the BlueTree Cellular Modem (ie,
http://173.181.138.58). This will bring up the MASTER Web UI page.

Revert ACM back to default IP Settings for a direct Cellular Modem connection.

Click SAVE

Radio Light Operations

When Network is operating correctly the MASTER:


RF light is on solid with periodic blinks
Signal light blinks

When Network is operating correctly the REMOTE:


RF light periodically blinks
Signal light is on solid with periodic blinks

Set is Complete
