Fulkerson's Rule describes a method for numbering events in a project diagram from left to right and top to bottom. It states that the starting event is numbered 1, other events are numbered sequentially, and skip numbering using increments of 10 can be used for complex projects to add additional activities in between.

Fulkerson’s Rule
 The starting event (having no predecessor activity is
numbered as 1 )
 other events are numbered in increasing order from 1 to
rightwards
 if there are more then 1 initial event found in a diagram ,
anywhere they are to be numbered from top to bottom in
increase order.
 No two events can have the same number in any case.

Fulkerson’s Rule
 For large and complex projects, skip numbering is used
 In skip numbering events are numbered as
10,20,30,40,50,…….
 This system permits more detailed activities which can be
incorporated in between.
 And these activities can be named as 11-12, 12-13, 13-14,
14-15……….
