Your Friend
Your friend decided to cycle around the world. Write questions to ask
him about the following:
5- Get home/steal/bike.
How will you get home if someone steals your bike?
Our Family Vacation
Our family is working very hard this year. If they work really
hard, they will all go on vacation. Ahmed Ali is a real estate
agent. If he sells four more houses than last year, he will have
enough money to take the family to Sharm. His wife, Mona, is
an interior designer. If she finds 15 new clients, the family will
be able to stay in a five-star hotel.
We can use the present progressive with the first conditional for :
2- (future arrangement)
If you are meeting Ahmed next week, I will come with you.
If you are going to the movies tomorrow, I will cancel my meeting.

Worker: Hello, I’m Shayna. I’m here to report for training.
Supervisor: Welcome! I’m Gord. I’m the warehouse supervisor.
Worker: Nice to meet you, Gord. Thanks for taking the time to show me around.
Supervisor: Of course. So, for this quarter, you’ll be working in quality control. Are you familiar
with this department?
Worker: Not exactly. This is my first time working in a factory.
Supervisor: Okay. Basically, you will be looking through the inventory and checking for defects.
Worker: Oh. I actually thought I was going to be working on the assembly line.
Supervisor: [laughs] Not quite. Robots do most of the assembly work in this plant.
Worker: Robots? Interesting. What do they do, exactly?
Supervisor: Well, they assemble and paint the parts. However, we use human workers to stock
the products. Workers also inspect for defects before and after production.
Worker: I see. Well, I’d love to see the robots in action at some point.
Supervisor: We can arrange that, but it’s a restricted area. You need special permission to
gain access.
Worker: Oh, is that for safety reasons?
Supervisor: Yes. Safety is key around here. You’ll need some steel-toe boots and a hard hat.
In fact, a safety course is on the agenda for this afternoon.
Worker: Great. I’m sure there is a lot to learn.
Supervisor: Yes. But first, there’s some paperwork I need you to fill out. I’ll also show you the
schedule so you know when to take your breaks.
