This procedure should be considered as an instruction to eliminate cases of falling objects from
height to the rotary table of the drilling rig, from the rotary table to the ground, and during
crane operations.
The Eriell Oilfield Services B.V. Dropped Objects Prevention System is designed to promote a
philosophy of hazard control in the daily operation of the rig. The program implies that checks
and maintenance programs will be utilized wherever possible to provide the necessary hazard
identification and controls.
This procedure is intended as a guide to eliminating the incidence of dropped objects within
drilling derrick structures, areas below the rig floor, and from cranes. As such, the overall
objectives of the DOMS are:
Eliminate injury to people
Eliminate the incidence of damage sustained by dropped objects
Eliminate damage to other associated equipment

rig.
The Rig Manager is responsible for this procedure being followed and that all checks,
inspections and maintenance on equipment is completed in a timely manner and to the
standards described in this document and other relevant requirements.
The Rig Manager shall monitor the use and success of the program based on the criteria set out
in this procedure, maintain records in the DOPP file for each rig, and review the performance of
the DOPP for the rig and report the findings to the Senior Drilling Supervisor.

7.6 Drawworks

eliminate any strain being transmitted directly to the fastening device. The minimum wraps for
a given drawworks is given in the manufacturer's operating manual. The installation of a top
drive will require additional wraps
Any maintenance work done on the monkey board shall be concluded by a complete system
function test to verify that all controls work correctly followed by drawing up of a relevant
document.
The following items should be checked prior and after using of the monkey board:
1. Absence of non-used tools and foreign objects.
2. Arresters are fully functional
3. Derrick man has escape route in case of an emergency.
4. Fall protection (safety harness, fall arrestors) is available and has been checked.
Threaded lifting subs/plugs/buttons/caps used for handling tubular are considered to be items
of lifting gear and shall therefore be subjected to the same inspection requirement as other
items of loose lifting equipment.
