A. Participants
1. The Division Virtual Scilympics Science Quiz will be open to both Public and
Private Schools for the different Programs:

e. Madrasah Education Program/ Arabic Language and Islamic Values
Education (ALIVE) Program

2. One (1) contestant per grade level per district per program will register.
B. Registration
1. Each District will have an Elimination not later than February 9, 2022.
2. The TOP 1 WINNER in the District Elimination will be qualified to compete in
the Division Level.
3. Registration of qualified participant for the DIVISION LEVEL SCIENCE QUIZ
should be made on or before February 10, 2022 for the finalization of the lists
per event.

5. After the registration, the coach who successfully registered the qualified
participant will get a link to join the Group Chat per event (this GC is made for

C. Coverage
The coverage of lessons for the Science Quiz Division Level will be 1st to 4th Quarter
of the MELC’s.
1. Participants will be given a unique code to join Edmodo Room to take their
respective competition
2. Participants will use 2 gadgets, 1 CP (open CAM) for Zoom Cloud Meetings and
laptop for Safe Browser Exam-Edmodo LMS.
3. For quality environment in taking quiz competition, please choose a quiet place to
work without distractions.
4. Make sure to place a big mirror in front of you and place your Zoom Meeting CP -
Camera at your back fronting the mirror.
5. Participants should turn on the camera while microphone is open for monitoring
purposes.
6. Participants are required to wear headset/headphone during competition to very
clearly hear the Quiz Master in reading the instructions and questions.
7. The Edmodo LMS is set up for 1st attempt-final answer in all questions. It will not
allow participants to change and go back to previous questions.
8. The quiz will be of 15 questions (5 easy, 5 -average and 5-diffficult)
9. Strictly NO USING OF CALCULATOR, SEARCH ENGINE, DUAL MONITOR
AND OTHER APPLICATIONS during examination
10. Follow the time and schedule given to avoid delays. LATE COMERS will not be
entertained if the competition is ongoing
4. Be sure to disable other application from your CP like messenger, FB, incoming
calls and others to avoid interruption while competition is on-going.

10. Once submitted the SDO 1 Pangasinan reserves the rights to publish the ePoster-

1. This is a virtual contest with singers and dancers as performers.This competition is open
to all elementary, junior and senior high school students from both public and private
schools in SDO1 Pangasinan. The contest is also open to the following inclusive

2. A minimum of two (2) to and a maximum of five (5) participants shall perform during the
contest. Participants must actually identify one singer and dancers who will perform
simultaneously.
3. The performance must consist of a song composed originally using rhythm of any song
and dance presentation related with this year’s theme “Depicting Science Inclusivity for
Proactive, Dynamic and Responsible Community”. Any song in English, Filipino or any
dialect may be used or a combination thereof may be utilized.
4. The presentation should last for a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of five (5)
minutes, in which period shall be included the technical preparation, introduction and the
exit of the performers.
9. The Evaluation and Selection Committee will review and score all the video entries
based on the criteria for judging found on the next page. There shall be ten (10) winners
per type of school and per category. The winning learners, coaches and the school shall
receive a Certificate of Recognition. All participating learners and coaches will receive
Certificate of Participation.

The winning school entry in the district shall be the participant for the Division
Virtual Scilympics EcoTechTalk Contest.
B. Participants
a. The contest is open to all bonafide students in the Schools Division Office I
Pangasinan. There shall be one (1) district representative per type of school (public; private);
per level (elementary; high school); per inclusive program, to wit:

C. Contest Specifications:
1. Contestants will focus their piece on the Division Virtual Scilympics theme, “Depicting
Science Inclusivity for Proactive, Dynamic, and Responsible Community.”
2. The speech must be in English only.
3. Submission of entry must be in a pre-recorded video presentation and should be
between 2 to 3 minutes only.
4. Personal details or information of each entry must not be included in the pre-
recorded video.
5. The use of special effects and editing software/application that may enhance the
presentation is strictly prohibited. Strictly raw videos only.
6. There will be a corresponding deduction of one (1) point from the total score for every
10 seconds extension of the pre-recorded video.
7. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.
D. Criteria:
Presentation (50%)
b. Manner of Speaking (20%). The speaker should give the appearance of relaxed self-
assurance and conviction. Movement, gesture, and facial expression should reinforce
the vocal delivery. Notes, when used, should be handled unobtrusively.
Content (50%)
a. Originality/Evidence/Information (30%). The judges will look for the speaker’s ability
to be original, to support arguments with evidence, and to supply information, with little
preparation time.
b. Organization (20%). The speech should have a clear beginning, middle, and end.
The judges will take into consideration whether the speech is introduced in an original
fashion, how well the subject matter is organized, and whether it is brought to a logical
conclusion.
A. General Guidelines
District Level
Each participating school shall select their representative to the district by school-
based competition or selection with the objective of selecting one school entry using the
herein given criteria for judging.
Division Level
The winning school entry in the district shall be the participant for the Division Sci-
lympics Essay Writing Contest
B. Participants
a. The contest is open to all bonafide students in the Schools Division Office I

C. Specifications
a. The Essay Writing Contest is a virtual on-the-spot competition.
b. A subtopic related to the theme of the Sci-lympics shall be given to which the
participants shall write about. The subtopic shall be the uniform essay title for all
the participants and it shall be given during the contest proper.
c. All entries must be written in English and must have at least 250 words and must
not exceed 500 words. Languages other than English maybe used provided that
these will not exceed two (2) sentences, and must be italicized.
d. All essays must be original and previously unpublished. Ideas or data from other
individual or from relevant organizations shall be properly cited and
acknowledged. If the submitted essay is found to have been plagiarized, it will be
disqualified from the competition.
e. All entries will be judged based on content, originality, relevance, grammar and
quality of ideas.
f. All entries must follow the specification below:
Coupons : A4 bond paper shall be used by the participants to encode
their essay.
Margin : One (1) inch margin on all sides
Spacing : Double spaced
Font Style
and Size : Arial and font size 12.
g. The participants shall be given two (2) hours to write and finish their essay.
h. A unique code shall be given to participants which they will write as a footer in
their essay. The TWG or the management shall keep the said control list.
i. Entries shall be submitted to an email which shall be provided by the Technical
Working Group (TWG) for the contest or the management.
j. Additional guidelines which covers the technicalities of the contest such as but
not limited platform to be used, group chats may be promulgated by the TWG
and approved by the management in order to ensure the smooth flow of the
contest and to safeguard the reliability and integrity of the contest.
k. The decision of the Board of Judges is final. All participants are deemed to have
accepted all the rules and regulations of the contest.

B. ELIGIBILITY
● Participants shall be from Grades 3 to 6 (for Elementary Category), and Grades 7 to 12
(for Secondary Category), that are bona fide students or studying in any public or private
school of SDO1 Pangasinan are qualified to compete.
● Participants MUST NOT be a professional photographer.
C. PHOTO GUIDELINES
● Participants are tasked to take a photograph of anything that is expected to convey the
message in line with the theme.
● Each contestant must submit only one (1) photo entry.
● Mobile phones, digital cameras and DSLRs are allowed in taking photos.
● Entries must be shot using the best settings of the device and must be saved in the
maximum size of 10 MB. Do not remove the metadata of the image when saving it.
Photo must be in JPEG or PNG format.
● All photos must be in landscape orientation
● Photo alterations on desktop, laptop or any platform other than a mobile phone/digital
camera/DSLR is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
● The submitted image is a single work of original material created and taken solely by the
contestant.
● Photo must not contain any copyrighted material including artworks and other photos.
● Entry must not contain date stamps, watermarks or any text on the image.
● Entry must not have been awarded in any other photo contests and/or commercially
published whether for news, advertising or otherwise.

2. A maximum of three (3) teachers/students may collaborate on a single entry.
Collaboration of participants and coaching may be done remotely such as but not
limited to online meetings, email messaging, and all available online collaboration
platforms.
3. The teacher/student will propose innovative experiments/activities that the learners
can perform while learning from their homes.
4. The proposed innovative activities must only cover any Science Most Essential
Learning Competency of their Grade level.
5. The teacher/student will prepare a write-up for innovation following the prescribed
format below. See Annex.
6. The teacher/student will also submit a video demonstrating how to execute his/her
proposed innovation. The video must not exceed 10 minutes.
7. Each school may send a maximum of one (1) official entry and must be
submitted on or before 3pm of February 14, 2021 at the given link:

1. This competition is open to all elementary, junior and senior high school students
from both public and private schools in SDO1 Pangasinan. The contest is also open
to the following inclusive programs: a. Regular Program b. Special Science Program
(SSES/STE) c. Special Education (SPED) Program d. Alternative Learning System
(ALS) Education Program e. Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd) Program e.
Multigrade Education Program f. Madrasah Education Program/Arabic language and

2. A maximum of three (3) students may collaborate on a single video entry.
Collaboration of participants and coaching may be done remotely such as but not
limited to online meetings, email messaging, and all available online collaboration
platforms.
3. Participant/s must discuss a difficult topic under Physical Sciences, Life Sciences,
Mathematics, or an Engineering concept in a clear, creative, and engaging manner
through a video presentation that is not more than three (3) minutes. The
participant/s can discuss the topic in English and/or Filipino.
4. All contents in the video must be original and are owned by the participant/s. Entries
may include personal experiences and thoughtful observations. Videos must reflect
that the student has carefully examined and thought through the topic.

The showcase enables learners to apply science and thinking skills to solve

become problem solvers by addressing social, scientific, and environmental issues

1. The video presentations will focus on the following scenarios/themes:
a. Natural Disasters (earthquakes, tsunami, volcanic eruption, typhoon,
etc.) and Climate Change/Global Warming
b. Agriculture and Food security
c. Environment and Natural Resources
d. Healthcare/Pandemics
3. The participants may use the internet and other printed resources in
developing their video presentation provided relevant provisions of the copyright
law are followed.
5. All video presentations that are quality assured by their respective district will
be submitted through the google form. The video presentations will then be
uploaded in (internet) for public viewing.
9. Strictly follow the file format, not following the contest mechanics will be grounds
for disqualification from the competition.
