That’s right!
Again, what is comparison?

Comparison is showing the similarities.

Very good!
How about contrast?

Contrast tells differences among subjects.

Very good!
b. Motivation
Class, what are you noticed about these pictures?

Teacher it’s foods.

Very good!
What else?

It Jollibee burger steak with rice.

That’s right!
Who among you here had already ate this burger steak
made from Jollibee?

I, when my mom went from Catarman she bought me

burger steak.
I’m not teacher, I only saw it in advertisement on
television.
Very good!
We see it on television.
What are your opinions, from picture A and picture B?
The picture A is based on advertisement, but the
picture B is the actual picture when you ordered in
Jollibee.
Amazing!

c. Presentation

What did you observe in this advertisement?

The kid is very happy because he has a complete family.
Very good!
What else?
Family is eating chicken joy from Jollibee that is why the
kid is happy.
Class, do you think only chicken joy can make our
family’s happy and together?
No, because even without it we can be happy. The
advertisement is just attracting our eyes to buy foods in
Jollibee.

Amazing!

B. Developmental Activity
a. Activity
I will group you into three and every group will select
their leader and the leader will present their answer
here in front. You will do this activity in just five
minutes.
But before we proceed, what are we going to do first if
we have an activity? Sharing ideas.
Respect every member.
Be cooperative.

Are you ready? Yes, Ma’am!

Group 1

Group 2

From left side is the present face of Ms. Rabiya Mateo and the right side is
her face when she graduated in high school (teenage).

Some basher said, Rabiya is ugly especially when she is

not wearing makeup. Some says she didn’t deserve to
become beauty queen.

Do you think Rabiya’s old photo is the base to say her

ugly? Explain your answer.
Group 3
Give an advertisement from radio, television or any
media that you already seen and heard. And explain
what its all about. Answers

Group 1
So sad to read the news about it, some people want to
become famous even they can hurt people. In this fake
news I know not only Mr. Alcasid got hurt but for sure
his family too.
We hope this kind of nonsense news will stop and stop
spreading fake news.

Group 2
No, we all disagree because all of us will experience
puberty.

Group 3
BDO
Its all about saving money and for choosing a better
bank.

Very good!

b. Analyzation
What did you notice about your activity?
We read fake news.
We noticed judgement.
Advertisements.

That’s right!
What can you say about that news? It was fake and judgement issue.

Very good!
How about those advertisements? Most of them are not saying the truth, they just attract
the consumer to buy their products.

Very good!
Class, those are biases.
When the information given is not fair, then there is
bias. Ma’am, bias is only one sided.

That’s right!
When a commercial, a testimony or a speech is favoring
or siding with somebody, a company, a group, or a
political or religious affiliation, then there is bias.
Example:
Nelfa is the best student in their class.
We can say this is bias because Nelfa is the daughter of
the teacher who says it.
Also need to provide evidence like documents or
medals that can prove it.
We can say it fact if Nelfa is on the top in their class.

Very good!

Propaganda is the dissemination of the information,

facts, arguments, rumors, half-truths, or lies to
influence public opinion.
Remember
The ideas in biases and propaganda maybe false or
misleading because both are used to influence people
to persuade, believe, buy or do something.
Ma’am like star margarine commercial they say
if you eat it you will become tall.

Very good!
Because our height is dependent on our genes.

Types of Propaganda devices

Bandwagon Propaganda is all about persuading the
target audience to action. It’s about creating an urge
along people to become a part of the “in crowd”.
Example:

The more people involve, the more people will convince

their advertising.
Like this month Mc Donald’s opened to serve people in
Catarman branch. Even we have pandemic, and some
are jobless. Still there are people visit and buy foods
there because we all know it getting trends in social
media.
Very good!
Card Stacking Propaganda focuses on the best features
and leaves out or lies about the problems.
Example:

If we analyze it’s a lie because even, we used a soybean

oil the chicken has already trans fat. Trans fat can also
find naturally in meat.
Impressive!
Plain Folks Propaganda uses regular people to sell a
product or a service.
Example:

They present a family bonding because as a family we

eat together but eating instant noodles is not a good
habit.

That’s right!
Testimonial Propaganda contains a well-known person
endorsing the product or service.
Example:

Kris Aquino is celebrity, if she endorses a product for

sure it will be leading brand because of her name.

Very good!
Glittering Generalities Propaganda uses words or ideas
that evoke an emotional response.
Example:

It can affect our emotions.

Yes, because glittering words include hope, change,

possibility, justice and others that give off an extremely
positive vibe.
Name Calling Propaganda connects a person, product,
or idea to something negative.
Examples:

They use name, what I mean they use a unique name

for their product to become familiar to us.
Very good!

c. Abstraction
Again, what is bias?
If the statement is one sided and nothing a proof.
Very good!
How about the propaganda?
Makes use of a collection of devices and tricks intended
to influence your thinking.
That’s right!
Who can give the different types of propaganda?

Because it can affect our emotion, especially when
you’re feeling down.
Very good!
Do you think its important to know about detecting
biases and different types of propaganda?
Yes, because we can be aware and wise to choose a
better one.

Like what?
For foods and company, we can trust so we can be safe.

Class, maybe most of advertisement telling lies to

attract us but their company help our economy to
grow.
