1. INTRODUCTION

This OJT programme is designed for EASA Part 66 A, B1 & B2 aircraft engineering licence
holders to provide practical training elements to allow the initial granting of an EASA Part-66
aircraft type rating. This training meets the requirements of EASA Part-66, Annex 3.

This document is a derivative of the QA.55 series of documents designed for OJT training.

Training tasks must be carried out on an aircraft. Use of a simulator or other appropriate
equipment such as Computer Based Training (CBT) facilities, system mock-ups and rigs must be
on simulators or systems approved by the Authority for that purpose.

The training programme will generally take between 8 and 16 weeks as determined by the
Training Manager in consultation with the Quality Manager. The duration of training will be
dependent on the experience of the applicant, the status and availability of aircraft, aircraft
systems and other maintenance or training systems.

The training programme includes:

 Routine checks
 Familiarisation with the operation of applicable systems
 Familiarisation with applicable special tools
 Specific maintenance procedures
 Fault diagnosis
 Use of appropriate documentation
 Health and safety requirements and aircraft working safety procedures, practises
and requirements will be adhered to throughout

BCT’s Training Manager will select the tasks for the practical training from the ATA Chapters
listing.

Tasks regarded as not applicable should be annotated as such with ‘N/A’.

Training tasks listed must be signed and stamped by the approved supervisors/assessors upon
satisfactory completion.

2. LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE

An engineer without any previous type rating/s will be required to successfully complete:

a) A Part-147 theoretical type course and examination – plus:

b) A Part-147 approved practical training and assessment - plus:
c) A Mandatory On Job Training (OJT) and assessment. This shall be carried out
with an appropriately approved Part-145 or Part-147 organisation.

Practical Training:
Is defined as Aircraft visits within the scope of the approved EASA Part-147 approved TNA.

On Job Training (OJT):

Objective - The objective of OJT is to gain the required competence and experience in performing
safe maintenance.
OJT shall cover a cross section of tasks acceptable to the competent authority. The OJT tasks to be
completed shall be representative of the aircraft and systems both in complexity and in the
technical input required to complete that task under one-to-one supervision. While relatively
simple tasks may be included, other more complex maintenance tasks shall also be incorporated
and undertaken as appropriate to the aircraft type.
Each task shall be signed off by the student and countersigned by a designated trainer/supervisor.
The tasks listed shall refer to an actual job card/work sheet, etc.

Certificate:
BCT’s Quality Manager will issue a certificate to the individual on successful completion of the
Part 145 OJT training.

Notes:
Trainer and Supervisor are considered the same for the purpose of this document.

The OJT should cover at least 50 % of the tasks listed from page 6 onwards. Tasks reflect Appendix II to AMC to
Part-66. Tasks should be selected among those applicable to the type of aircraft and licence (sub) category applied
for. Other tasks than those in the Appendix II may be considered as a replacement when they are relevant. These must
be recorded on the last page of this document. Typically, in addition to the variety and the complexity, the OJT tasks
should be selected because of their frequency, safety, novelty, etc.

Up to 50 % of the required OJT may be undertaken before the aircraft theoretical type training starts.

The trainer column must be signed and stamped by an engineer holding the actual aircraft type with the appropriate
engine on their licence and be in possession of a current authorisation on that aircraft/engine combination.

The assessor block at the base of each page must be completed by approved assessor named in MOE section 1.

It is recommended that copies are always kept of completed OJT books when submitted.
