AI and ML Report-Final

Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science concerned with building intelligent machines that can perform tasks typically requiring human intelligence. Examples include chatbots, virtual assistants, and self-driving cars. AI has many applications including helping businesses serve customers better, improving decision making, and performing dangerous tasks. While AI offers benefits, some fear it could negatively impact jobs or become too intelligent to control. However, with safeguards and policy, AI may become a constructive addition to society.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is a wide-ranging branch of computer science. It is concerned with

building smart machines capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence.
Examples of AI: Siri, Alexa etc. AI matters in today’s world because of many reasons some of
them are, Artificial Intelligence in business significantly saves time and effort. Furthermore,
Machine Learning algorithms help in better serving customers. Chatbots provide immediate
response and service to customers, and they improve the ability for businesses to serve their
customers in reliable and efficient ways. It also allows people and companies to deal with a lot
more information than they could handle. AI can help people and organizations make better
decisions and fewer mistakes. A.I can help to do tasks that are too dangerous for people to
perform. AI can work tirelessly on a single task without losing focus. AI removes repetitive,
boring, but necessary tasks from people’s lives. The ability for artificially intelligent systems to
do these tasks reliably, efficiently, tirelessly, and of course, cost-effectively is there. Artificial
Intelligence has applications in various fields. These fields can be military, law etc. Humans are
territorial in nature, meaning we like to feel in control in order to feel safe. If something is
unknown to us, and therefore outside of our control, like AI, then we fear it. So, should we fear
AI? people have seen in the popular media, and Hollywood many examples of AI going wrong,
such as HAL in 2001, Metropolis in 1920s. In Hollywood almost there’s practically been some
story about a superintelligence system gone wrong. And it’s no wonder that there are a lot of
situations and scenarios where things can go wrong. A lot of what people express when they’re
expressing their fears about artificial intelligence comes from this fear of super-intelligent
systems where we have unknown consequences about that superintelligence system. If we look
at Hollywood as an example, there are some good examples of AI in Hollywood such as Star
Trek and Star Wars. The next argument that we’ve seen is that mass unemployment will occur
due to replacing humans with AI. We can look at some facts around AI that people are concerned
about will affect many jobs, especially white-collar jobs that involve knowledge and knowledge
workers and interactions between humans and blue-collar jobs cab drivers for example. Many of
those jobs are possibly at risk due to AI systems and not even necessarily AGI-like super-
intelligent artificial general intelligence systems but just more advanced versions of what we
have around today. We’re slowly seeing the steady creep of AI technology into all these jobs that
people are worried about. AI may not take away hundred percent of the jobs but there could be
jobs that are affected by that. If we’re looking at the current state of AI, there is a lot of valid
reason for concern, we’re seeing AI applied to nonmilitary stuff, which provides strategic
advantages like misinformation, disinformation, fake news, and propaganda. So, should we fear
AI? Our fears are not unfounded, but as we have seen, numerous measures are being put in place
to protect us and our future. So long as governments and international organizations continue to
work towards enacting policy that protects us and encourages more diversity in the field, we may
be on track for AI to be a constructive addition to society. AI will have a significant impact on
the way we live and on our society. AI has significant use in healthcare. Companies are trying to
develop technologies for quick diagnosis. Artificial Intelligence would efficiently operate on
patients without human supervision. AI can certainly make education more efficient. AI
technology can discover the needs of students and can adapt according to their needs. Also, AI
can automate grading, which saves a lot of time. With AI an enterprise will be able to know a lot
about every single one of its customers, about all its products. AI enables these companies to
truly understand their customers and act more personalized for every interaction. AI in the future
is going to enhance the human experience. One of the many sub-areas of Artificial Intelligence is
Machine Learning (ML). ML applications learn from experience (or accurate data) as humans do
without direct programming. When exposed to new data, these applications learn, grow, change,
and develop by themselves. In other words, ML involves computers finding insightful
information without being told where to look. Instead, they do this by leveraging algorithms that
learn from data in an iterative process. The concept of ML has been around for a long time.
However, the idea of automating the application of complex mathematical calculations to big
data has only been around for several years, though it’s now gaining more momentum. ML is the
ability to adapt to new data independently and through iterations at a high level. Applications
learn from previous computations and transactions and use “pattern recognition” to produce
reliable and informed results. To better understand the uses of ML, consider some instances
where ML is applied: the self-driving cars; cyber fraud detection; and online recommendation
engines from, Netflix etc. Machines can enable all these things by filtering valuable information
and piecing them together based on patterns to get accurate results. The rapid evolution in ML
has caused a subsequent rise in the use cases, demands—and the sheer importance of ML in
modern life. Big Data has also become a well-used buzzword in the last few years; this is partly
due to the increased sophistication of ML, which enables the analysis of large chunks of Big
Data. ML has also changed the way data extraction and interpretation is made by automating
generic methods/algorithms, thereby replacing traditional statistical techniques. To sum it up,
Artificial Intelligence looks all set to be the future of the World. Experts believe AI would
certainly become a part and parcel of human life soon. AI would completely change the way we
view our World. With Artificial Intelligence, the future seems intriguing and exciting.
