The key takeaways are the parts of a plant (roots, stem, leaves, flowers, fruits) and their functions. Teaching methods discussed include collaborative, student-centered and interactive approaches.

The parts of a plant are roots, stem, leaves, flowers and fruits. Roots hold the plant, stem holds the leaves, leaves make food, flowers help make seeds and fruits hold seeds.

Teaching methods discussed include collaborative, student-centered, interactive/participative/cooperative, design thinking, self-learning, visualization of information and active learning approaches. Teaching strategies include initiative, visualization and interdisciplinary learning.

SUBJECT MATTER- SCIENCE III

Topic: Parts of a Plant and its Functions

Approach:
✓ Reflective Approach contribute development for the students to evaluate and
observation themselves and reflect on their actions made.

✓ Collaborative Approach allows the student to be involve in group of learners

working together to perform and complete the task given. With this approach
students will improve their social development, emotional skills, and most
especially is their intellectual knowledge in decision making with their
classmates.
✓ Student Centered Approach displays as one of the effective learning
approach in teaching. It brings knowledge, past experience, and ideas that
impacts the students to take the new information and learnings.

Method:
✓ Interactive/Participative/Cooperative method were in students are freely to
express and join the discussion and the activities given. It encourage students to
be involve and interact with their classmates and teacher/s.

Teaching Technique:
✓ Design Thinking (Case method) based on resolving real-life cases through
group analysis, brainstorming with groupmates, and creating new ideas.

✓ Self-learning as curiosity will be the key of learning. With the help of senses
students will begin to recall the things they saw before and by exploring in the
area of the topic students can learn in the discussion.

Teaching Strategy:
✓ Encourage initiative allow students to actively participate in the learning
process with class discussions and exercises that support the initiative.
✓ Visualization of information as great strategy to process the information that
has been taught in the class.

✓ Active leaning to increase student engagement in daily lesson with the weather
forecast, motivation and activities in you lesson.

✓ Interdisciplinary about the impact of the weather and climate on the agriculture
and customs of other societies. This gives the student a chance to learn different
cultures forma a scientific and social standpoint

Science Trivia

❖ The earth has more than 80,000 species

of edible plants.
❖ 70,000 plant species are utilized for
Activity medicine.

Class, I have
here a picture.

What do you want to know more about the plants?

✓ You will learn more on this as we go on to our activity
today.

4. Roots Capture sunlight for energy

5. The petals on a flower Soak in sunlight for

photosynthesis

Discussion

The roots hold the plant to the soil. They absorb or get
water and minerals from the soil. They store or keep the
extra food made by the plant.

What part of the plant can be seen on the ground?

✓ Roots

Why do roots seen below the ground?

✓ They hold the plant to the soil.

The stem holds the leaves, flowers and fruits of the plant.
They give passageway of water and minerals to go up from
the roots to the leaves and other parts of the plants.

What part of the plant holds the leaves, flowers and fruits?
✓ The stem.

Do all plants have stem?

✓ Yes.
What is the main work of the stem?
✓ They bring water and dissolved minerals from the
roots to the leaves.

Very good!
The leaves make the food for the plant. The leaves are the
