WEEK 12

Developing Peaceful Co-Existence: Gender Tolerance

INTRODUCTION

Today, we will not be having lectures or information inputs but an activity that will help us

understand the other half of humanity -- the other gender. Men and women have continuously lived, for

the entire existence of humanity, on each other’s arms or on each other’s edges. There havebeen clichés

too that these genders would actually put each other on two different parts of the galaxy such as men

are from Mars and women, from Venus. However, let us not highlight the differences between gender

today but keep an open mind in understanding (hopefully) the other gender.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the module, you are expected to:

1) Identify the different activities that men and women do.

2) Understand why the other gender prioritizes such activities and your own gender group

does not.

3) Reflect on your ways in giving equal opportunities and respect to the other gender.

Write down the different activities that you do in the hours given below. If you are a man, use

the second column. If you are a woman, use the third column.

After writing the activity, the class will be grouped by gender. Each group will be collating their answers

and will try to write these down on a manila paper or on the board. Each of the group will be presenting

their answers to the class and would proceed to the next page.

Processing of the Activity

In the given activity above, please write down your insights on how you will show respect and concern

for the other gender.

Respect is the most important thing we can give to each other as we are doing things in

different way and we also have a different mindset.

1) How many hours do you spend in productive work?

- 6-7hrs
2) How many hours do you spend in recreational activities?

- 2-3hrs
3) How many hours do you spend time with your family?

-1-2hrs
4) How many hours do you spend time with your friends?

- 2hrs
5) How many hours do you spend time resting?

- 10hrs

Do you think men are more productive than women or the reverse? Why?

Depends on the household we're living in. Sometimes men and sometimes women it just depends on
the parenting or from the individual himself if he/she is productive. A person that is productive never
usually wastes time. Gender is only on the appearance but not based on behavior.

What did you learn from this activity?

Gender is not really necessary.

In the given activity above, please write down your insights on how you will show respect and concern
for the other gender.
Gender is not really necessary. People should be more open minded and be more aware in your
surrounding and don't mind other peoples personality or behavior unless if its horrible.
