What to Know:
Whom is the objective case of who. It is the form of who in the object position of a sentence,
To determine when to use whom, figure out if the "who" is the noun that receives the action of a verb “object of
the sentence” ("Who gave it to you?" vs "You gave it to whom?").
Examples:
a) The doctor who you recommended is not available for three months.
b)The doctor whom you recommended is not available for three months.
● Who is always the subject. The subject of a sentence is the person, place, thing, or idea that is doing or
being something; the subject performs the action
● Whom is always an object. The object of a sentence is the noun or pronoun that the subject does
something to; the object is the receiver of the action.
