Sorsogon National High School Sorsogon City

This study examines the lack of attention among senior high school students in the EPAS strand at Sorsogon National High School and its impact on their academic performance. The researchers will use a survey questionnaire to collect data from 40 randomly selected students across grades 11 and 12. The questionnaire addresses factors that affect student attention and the effects on academic performance. Statistical analysis including calculating the mean will be used to determine relationships between variables and interpret the results. The goal is to help identify issues affecting student attention and how to address them.

CHAPTER III
Research Methodology

This chapter presents the methods to be used in the study. It also describes the subject of

the study, the instrument used, and the procedure of data gathering and the statistical treatment of

the data.

This study will determine the Lack of attention among EPAS students and its Impact in

Sorsogon National High School.

Research Design

This study employs to use correlational research design because it tells/determines the

relation of two variables which is the academic performance and lack of attention among

students. The study seeks to establish cause and effect relationship between the senior high

school EPAS students suffering from the factors which has impact because of lack of attention in

class.

The lack of attention among students and the factors affecting them that they encounter

will be tested if there are significant effects to the performance of the students. Through the

survey questionnaire, the data will be collected accurately. The information could assist the

researchers when interpreting results.

Sampling Technique

In order for the proponents to determine the sample, Slowbin Formula to stratified

random sampling is going to be used in order for the outcome of this research to be more

accurate. This method will be applied in every 5 students from EPAAS 1 to 4 of grade 11 and 12

students of SNHS – SHS. Every member of the population has an equal chance of being selected

and this will provide the unbiased.

Respondents Number of Respondents

12 EPAS 1 5

12 EPAS 2 5

12 EPAS 3 5

12 EPAS 4 5

11 EPAS 1 5

11 EPAS 2 5

11 EPAS 3 5

11 EPAS 4 5

Total: 40 Respondents
Research Instrument

The researchers will utilize a survey form to the students to get the information needed to

this study. The researchers will use survey questionnaires in conduct focused group discussions.

The instrument is divided into three parts. Part 1 is o determine the factors affecting them

because of lack of attention to teachers of EPAAS students. The researcher presented 10 items

questions with 4 options each. Part II is to know the effects towards academic performance. Part

III is to know the possible outcome of the effects being faced by SHS students. The participants

are given situations and are tasked to select only one answer.

Data Gathering Procedure

Data gathering is one of the most critical part of every research study. This is a section

where in the procedure of collecting data will be discussed and how will the proponents get the

significant information about the study, thus the researchers will follow the procedure

systematically.

The researcher will be analyzed and validated by the experts before the proliferation and

distribution of this to the respondents. Meanwhile, the proponents will make a letter of
permission to conduct a survey. The letter will be addressed to the school principal because she

is the most appropriate personnel in SNHS.

During the conduction of survey, the selection of respondents will be stratified sampling.

The proponents will go to selected and appropriate class and will first discuss and explain the

purpose of the survey. It will be significant because it is one way of being an ethical researcher.

After explaining the purpose and instructions, the researchers will give 10 questionnaires to each

class.

The proponents shall not force those who will not want to respond. Likewise, the

proponents will understand if the respondents will choose to be anonymous and so, they will be

given an option whether to write or not to write their names. Because other’s consciousness may

affect their honesty and effectiveness in answering of our questionnaires.

After the conduction, all collected data will be analyzed statistically by the proponents,

through the help of statistical method which is discussed in statistical treatment, the proponents

will critically test the credibility of the information. The proponents will never accept personal

and additional observations so that they will come up with the correct, unbiased and true data.
The researchers selected the respondents because these are the ones related to our study.

This study will be using survey research (Cross-Sectional) as sampling method in determining

the common academic difficulties of EPAS students in Sorsogon National High School.

Statistical Treatment

Statistical Treatment

This part of the research will discuss about the formula that will be utilized by the

proponents in order to find a reliable answer.

Mean. A measure of central tendency is an attempt to describe a set of data by identifying the

central position within that set of data. This tool is utilized in order to determine the lack of

attention among students and its impact.
