1.Discuss the presence of positive and negative symptoms.What type of disorder/s do you
think the character had?
In a movie entitled “Beautiful Mind” the presence of positive symptoms that shows in the
movie that are highly exaggerated ideas, perceptions,or actions that show the person can’t tell
what’s real from what isn’t.
The positive symptoms that John Nash have in the movie are: that is visual and auditory
delusions.In start when he met his roommate named Charles.This is the first time that John’s
schizophrenia delusions become apparent to the audience as his room is made for one
person.Confused thoughts and disorganized speech It start that he talk nonsense or offended just
like what he say in the girl he met in the bar and when he tries to make a jokes with a good
intentions but it ends up offending other students.
And the Negative symptoms that it show in the movie are: He have a trouble with speech and
flattering like in the scene that he carry the baby and it was crying but john has no emotion at all
and he have a lack of pleasure.
In this movie “Beautiful Mind”. John Nash a mathematicians have an disorder Schizophrenia
that is a “ chronic and severe mental disorder that affects how a person thinks,feels and behaves”
and causes people to seem as if they are “ out of touch with reality”.

2. Discuss how the symptoms of the disorders were presented.Give specific examples of
scenes from the movie?
First,it all start when he met his roommate named Charles.This is the first time that John
Schizophrenia delusions.In follows by he met the other delusions named William Parcher a
mysterious government agent. John’s delusions have made him believe that he is working for the
Department of Defense. And when he have an argument with william parcher in front of the
Princeton University. All students and professor watching him, shouting. Everyone seems
confuse and scared because they see that John Nash talking to no one but in part of John Nash he
was talking with william parcher (the delusions). It was the start that he was have an
Schizophrenic delusions. When he was bring to a psychiatric hospital. And it worse when he stop
taking a medicine.This was the scene when John Nash is giving his baby a bath after his wife
went out into the backyard to hang up the laundry. She notices that something is off the sprints
back inside to find their baby that almost drowning while John is having a schizophrenic episode
and telling her that Charles was washing the baby.She rescued the baby as while she watches
John have an argument with William Parcher.Parcher pulls a gun on John’s wife,which causes
John to try to tackle parcher and save his wife since he thinks that all of this is real.

3. What was the strongest emotion that you felt when watching the film?
I think, the strongest emotion that I felt in the film was In March 1994,when a faculty
members/mathematics professor present their pens to John Nash. That is symbolizes that he
recognized in the mathematics community by his accomplishments and the others are inspired by
his life.
And by december 1994, when he was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics
Sciences and said in his speech “ I have made the most important discovery of my career”. And
he was thankful for his wife who didn’t give up for him despite all the challenges or problem that
coming in their lives.

4. Of the many feelings expressed in the fil, with which are you most familiar?
The most familiar that happened to me like in the movie are the scene that when Professor
John Nash was walking to go home but in front of Princeton University, while he was walking
there have one students copy his walk and laugh together with his friend.
I see myself to him, way back when I was in Junior Highschool I’m epitome of humor because
the way of my walk.I walk pike and added that I’m hunchbacked back. Just like John Nash
when I was walking to go home in front of the gate of my school. I was walking with mu best
friend then a few minutes we heard a laughing then we turn back we see the cousin of my best
friend together with her 2 friends. They laugh and they copy my walk and they go walk first.I
was really ashamed that time.
