MODULE 7. ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT
In line with the Proclamation No. 237 on April 4, 1988 which was approved by the then President Corazon C. Aquino, declaring the month of June every year as Philippine
Environment Month and to give time and effort towards the protection, enhancement and development of the country's environment.
Meanwhile, the country's celebration of World Environment Day was declared by the late President Ferdinand Marcos on June 1, 1973, by virtue of Proclamation No.1149,
Series of 1973, in consonance with the United Nations General Assembly's Resolution No. 2994 dated December 15, 1972, declaring the 5th day of June every year as World
Environmental Day and urging governments in the United Nations System to undertake on that day, activities reaffirming their concern for preservation and enhancement of the
environment.
Hence, as an individual living in the Earth planet, we should take part of it by understanding the importance of our environment, and acknowledging the urgency of change. Now
more than ever, our planet needs us to step up and take action towards cleaning up many of the messes we have made through irresponsibility. Therefore, we should preserve
and conserve our environment. But how?
