TOPIC: HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN
BUSINESS AND HOSPITALITY SECTORS IN VIETNAM TODAY?

As a final year student of Da Nang University of Foreign Languages Studies,

majoring in Business English, there are numerous promising employment
opportunities for me in Business and Hospitality fields in Da Nang city, as well
as throughout Viet Nam.
Business is currently seen as a dynamic industry that will develop
exponentially over time. Due to the rapid expansion of Vietnam's economy as
it integrates into the global economy, graduates with Bachelor's Degree in
Business English are expected to have a diverse variety of job options.
Business English graduates are educated in the fundamentals knowledge of
business, marketing, logistics, and all of which are taught in English, which
demonstrates that we are not only well-versed in international business and
commerce, but also proficent at the language. Since the current trend is
digital marketing via online application platforms, domestic businesses have
a tremendous need to employ resources in the field of marketing. For
example, big organizations like Shopee, Lazada, and Tiki advertise job
vacancies and require recruiters to have marketing or business Degree, as
well as fluency in English. The need for applicants who are fluent in English
language and have a strong understanding of economics has risen
considerably. While students in other disciplines struggle to study foreign
languages in addition to their particular knowledge, Business English
students have an advantage owing to their ability to acquire a strong
command of the language as well as a thorough comprehension of business
concepts. This will provide a specific explanation for why majoring in
business allows students to readily adapt to corporate culture.

Furthermore, students with a rudimentary understanding of import-export

business and international payments may benefit greatly from international
business, particularly logistics. Logistics is one of the fastest expanding
sectors of Vietnam’s economy, whose growth may outpace GDP. The
country’s import-export revenues reached close to US$390 billion in the first
three quarters of 2020. This is a 1.8 percent growth compared to the same
period last year as per the General Statistics Office (GSO). The Vietnamese
government aims to achieve an annual logistics growth rate close to 20
percent by 2025. "During the present covid epidemic, the logistics industry
may experience challenges, but it cannot eradicate the necessity to transfer
commodities from one area to another, even from one continent to the other"
Mr. To Van Hiep noted in his speech. From there, we can see that, despite the
fact that the pandemic is still raging, this field is indeed evolving. "There are
many intriguing occupations in logistics," he said, "such as forwarder, sales
logistics, and so on. As long as you have the will to move forward, the eager
to learn more, and you have already accomplished English, which is a critical
language in this sector.” In fact, there are a lot of new logistics firms popping
up, and the government is promoting overseas commerce to assist our
country's economy flourish, which lead to the demand for recruits is rising as
well. For post-graduates who are interested in logistics, this might be an
opportunity to start a long-term career.

As previously stated, the increasingly complicated and unresolved Covid-19

outbreak has wreaked havoc on a variety of businesses, with the hospitality
industry bearing the brunt of the damage. As a Business English student, the
hospitality business is promising alternatives, with professions such as tour
guides and hotel and resort employment. The pandemic situation, on the other
hand, has thrown the tourism industry into disarray, and job oppotunities
have shrunk severely. According to the Da Nang Statistics Department, the
COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the suspension and termination of
approximately 40,000 tourist and service employees in the first nine months of
2021, raising the city's unemployment rates. However, as tourism is one of our
country's three key sectors, the government has regulations in place to
encourage domestic citizens as well as international tourists with a valid
passport to participate in tourism activities. For example, in the beginning of
November, Phu Quoc Island re-opened and welcomed local and the first
foreign travelers with vaccine pasports. We should not lose faith in this field
since everything may return to normal and get back on track in the near future.
To put it another way, the tourist and hotel sectors still have room to grow,
and it's likely that once the epidemic is under control, tourism demand will
surge. Because of the worldwide epidemic, it is expected that individuals
would prefer to travel domestically rather than internationally. Consumer
behavior changes in the hospitality industry will have a significant impact on
hotel management and marketing efforts throughout the country. Hence, job
prospects in the hospitality business may be open to a broad spectrum of new
graduates?

Business English graduates face a variety of problems in addition to the

opportunities. Incoming graduates will confront challenges such as a lack of
experience working in new industries, a lack of specific qualifications, and
rejection from huge firms, in addition to the pandemic's current situation,
which complicates everything. As a graduating student, I believe that self-
improvement is vital; not only do I need to graduate on time, but I also need
to polish extra soft skills in order to meet the needs of potential career. Finding
internships or jobs is currently tough due to the spreading epidemic. In order
to find solutions to these problems, each individual must identify their own
path, seek professional advice, and discover their own passion. Based on the
knowledge and experience I've gained over my four years at university, I
suppose I need to work harder to contribute to my future projects. Mr. To Van
Hiep's speech, on the other hand, encouraged me to consider fresh and diverse
areas of choice of profession.

To summarize, students must identify potential trends that may emerge from
such fields and be well-informed about the unpredictable requirements of
advertised vacancies in order to determine which steps to take and
development processes to implement in order to enable themselves to fit the
positions they gravitate toward. Additionally, both undergraduates and
postgraduates will be expected to work hard every day to learn and develop
experience. As a result, aspiring job seekers will have straightforward access
to the opportunities they want.
