    HYDROJETTING SAFETY

    The process of cleaning the unit Equipment's (vessels, drums, exchangers, columns and reactors)
    with the high pressure Jet stream of water and to remove the clogged and blocked lines is called
    hydro jetting.
    Use of incorrect method or not following the safety precautions during the hydro jetting operation
    can lead towards serious injury or even death. The following safety precautions need to be taken
    while performing this high risk activity.

    • Carry out hydro-jetting with the valid work permit


    • Ensure the hydro-jetting machine is inspected by SAUDI ARAMCO
    SHEDGUM GAS PLANT GT-1 SHUT DOWN 2021

    • Provide UL listed fire extinguisher near hydro-jetting machine


    • Workers performing the hydro-jetting job must be trained for high pressure hydro-jetting job
    • Provide standby man near the hydro-jetting machine for emergency shutting down of machine
    • Equipment shall be fitted with actuating device operated by hand or foot
    • Hoses used for hydro-jetting shall be third party inspected and tagged. Hoses with reinforced
    wire shall be disposed off.
    • Care shall be taken while lying off the hoses on the ground to avoid constant pulsation damage
    specially from corners
    • Provide the whip check arrestor on the coupling to prevent hose from whipping in case of dis-
    connection. Also provide safety pins for enhanced protection.
    • Hydro-jetting area shall be barricaded with suitable barriers to prevent entry of unauthorized
    personnel
    • Provide warning signs in the area
    • High pressure equipment shall be grounded before work starts and during operation to prevent
    the development of electrostatic charges between lance and workplace
    • Anti-withdrawal devices must be used on all flex lancing jobs.
    • When performing hydro-jetting job, workers must wear protective equipment such as slicker
    suit, rubber gloves, hard hat with face shield, safety goggles, ear plugs and metatarsal boots.
    • Ensure appropriate platform and scaffolding is provided for hydro-jetting job at higher elevation.
    • While performing hydrojetting work on high elevation, safety harness should be used
