Group Activity #5
Close Traverse Adjustment
Total 100%
1
Write all the members of the group
2
Indicate zero (0) for members not joining or contributing the activity.
Objectives:
1. Perform close traverse adjustment
2. Make a program in spreadsheets for computations and adjustment of close traverse by
applying the concept of close traverse adjustment.
Learning Outcomes on Student’s Perception:
(Formulate the learning outcomes that you will acquire from this activity. Learning outcome
should start with SMART verbs)
1. .

Instructions:
1. Refer to the instructions shown in each item of “Requirements”
2. Submit .pdf file format
Requirements:
1. Make a program in spreadsheets for computations and adjustment of close traverse.
2. This program or file will allow the user to input the bearing and distance of traverse
lines and will provide adjusted values of latitude, departure, bearing, and distance of
traverse line accordingly. Or somewhat like the figure below but with additional
columns for adjusted bearing and distance. This program will also display the linear
error of closure, bearing of side error, and relative precision of the traverse.

3. Units of bearings must be in Sexagesimal system and must be in DD-MM format (i.e.,
up to nearest arc minute only such as, 23o43’).
4. Units of distance are in metric system.
5. Number of decimal places for linear values (distance, latitude, departure, and
corrections) must be up to two only. Hint: round off values instead of hiding it.
6. Try the following traverse data to check if your program works properly:
Lifelong Learnings:
(Write in one paragraph with 5-7 sentences the information, knowledge, or skills you learned
from this activity that are new and may have lifelong contribution to your personal life and future
endeavors.)
