Performance Task Quarter 2 Math 10

1. The document is a performance task from San Pablo National High School in Isabela, Philippines containing 3 sections with multiple problems about polynomial functions, the distance and midpoint of a line segment, and the equation of a circle. 2. The first section contains 3 problems about predicting population growth with a polynomial function, finding the volume of a box using dimensions expressed as polynomials, and identifying binomial expressions for the dimensions of a box given its volume and one dimension. 3. The second section contains 3 problems about finding the coordinates of a missing point to make a midpoint, finding the point that is equidistant from two other points, and finding the coordinates of a point to make it equidistant from a midpoint

PERFORMANCE TASK IN MATHEMATICS 10
QUARTER 2
S.Y. 2021-2022

PERFORMANCE TASK # 1: POLYNOMIAL FUNCTIONS

Directions: Read and analyze each problem carefully. Show you complete solution.

1. A demographer predicts that the population, P, of a town t years from now can be modeled by
the function P(t) = 6t4 – 5t3 + 200t + 12 000. What will be the population of the town two (2)
years from now?

2. A rectangular box is (3x + 5) meters wide, (4x + 3) meters long and (2x – 1) meters high.
What is the volume of the box?

3. If the volume of the box is represented by the expression (x3 + 4x2 + x -6) cm3 and its width by
(x-1) cm, what binomials can be used to express the other two dimensions?

PERFORMANCE TASK # 2: THE DISTANCE AND MIDPOINT OF A SEGMENT

Directions: Read and analyze each problem carefully. Show you complete solution.

1. If M (4, 6) is the midpoint of AB and point A is (3,-8), what are the coordinates of point B?

2.What is the value of x if the point (x, 0) is equidistant from the points A (5, 7) and B (3, -7)?

3.The distance from A to M is the same as the distance from B to M. If the coordinates of A are (-8, -2)
and the coordinates of M are (1, -3), what are the coordinates of point B?

PERFORMANCE TASK # 3: EQUATION OF A CIRCLE

Directions: Read and analyze each problem carefully. Show you complete solution.

1. On a grid map on the province of Isabela, the coordinates that correspond to the location of a cellular
phone is (-2, 8) and it can transmit signals up to a 12 km radius. What is the equation that represents the
transmission boundaries of the tower?

2. If the center of a circle is (0, 2) and its radius is 9 units, what is the equation of the circle in general
form?

3. A radius of a circle has endpoints (-4,3) and (1,-2). What is the equation that defines the circle if its
center is at the second quadrant?
