8 Simple Secrets to Health
Air: What Are We Breathing?
by Christy Whitehurst [email protected] 307-851-3630

Xeno-estrogen = estrogen dominance in both men & women

Xeno means strange or foreign

Problem: Plastic (nonyl phenol) makes plastic pliable

Solution: Glass and stainless steel are great alternative. Also Pyrex, Klean Kanteen, Stone Ware, Cast
iron, Silicone, Mason jars, tattler lids etc.

Use Natural fabrics for clothes and shower curtains like Cotton, linen, wool, silk, hemp,
bamboo, modal, tencel Replacing synthetic fabrics like acrylic, polyester, nylon etc.

Problem: Air pollution “Indoor air is commonly 2-5 times more polluted than outside air, even in urban
areas, and the volume of volatile organic compounds(VOCs) is consistently 10 times higher
indoors than outdoors, and sometimes even 100 times higher” “Easy Green Living” by Loux p.71

Solution: Move to the country where trees clean your air

Add plants inside: Plants purify the air by taking in the bad elements through the leaves, transporting
them to the microbes in the soil for food. The plant then releases fresh, clean oxygen into our air. Our trash is
their treasure and vice versa. The wider the leaf the more efficient it purifies the room. The most effective
plants for purifying indoor air include bamboo palm, Chinese evergreen, corn plant(dracaena massangeana, not
edible corn), Per 100 square feet: 2-3 or more medium to large plants, or 3-4 small to medium plants.

If we would have our homes the abiding place of health and happiness, we must place them above the miasma and fog
of the lowlands and give free entrance to heaven's life-giving agencies. Dispense with heavy curtains, open the windows
and the blinds, allow no vines, however beautiful, to shade the windows, and permit no trees to stand so near the
house as to shut out the sunshine. The sunlight may fade the drapery and the carpets and tarnish the picture frames,
but it will bring a healthy glow to the cheeks of the children. AH 149.2

Problem: Pesticides

Solution: Move to the country and practice biological gardening (Edwin and Paul Dysinger, Gabe Brown)
Other techniques are back to Eden gardening, greening the dessert, square foot gardening,
Planting by the Blue Print)

Buy organic when possible, especially the “dirty dozen”. Know the safer “clean 15”
