1.PURPOSE

This Method Statement is made to define and describe the procedure to be used in installation of HVAC System for
Housing Complex

This is to ensure that the work to be carried out will be strictly in accordance with the requirements stipulated in the
relevant specifications, procedures and drawings.

Through this procedure, material preparation, transportation and installation will be monitored by maintaining proper
records and ensuring to complete the work within the agreed schedule.
Likewise, to ensure that the works are executed safely and qualities satisfy the specified requirement.

2.SCOPE OF WORK

This procedure covers the installation of HVAC for the areas under general HVAC works scope.

4.2 Work Plan
Site Management:

• Responsible for the safe execution of the work. To support the execution team with necessary resources.
• Ensure that all foreign workers engaged in the worksite are legal workers who possess valid work permits
and other necessary documents.
• Ensure workers assigned to projects are qualified and competent for their own trade.
• Ensure that all necessary preparation and documents are approved prior to the commencement of the work.
• Ensure site survey is done for movement of the construction equipment.
Site Supervisor:

• The roles and responsibilities of the Site Supervisor at the workplace are as follow:
• Conduct daily toolbox talks.
• Ensure work is carried out in accordance to work method statements and HSE requirements.
• Plan each task with HSE policy as an Integral Part and conduct Risk Assessments of all work activities.
• Monitor workers and work group performance for quality and safe work practices.
• Correct any deficiencies noted and educate the worker to improve work methods.
• Report and investigate all non-injury and injury incidents and secure incident sense.
• Train the employees in safe work procedures.
• Inform employees of potential health hazards.
• Assure good housekeeping at all times.
• Enforce Company and Project HSE policies and Procedures at all times.
• Ensure that relevant work permit clearance is obtained.
• Ensure that all work area is properly barricaded.
Safety Supervisor

• The roles and responsibilities of the Safety Supervisor at the workplace are as follow:
• Ensures that the presence of relative PTW, Cold and Hot Work Permit and Lifting Permit;
• Ensures that workers wear required PPE at all times;
• Ensures good housekeeping is performed at all times.
• Ensures all workers adhere to relevant Safety and Health policy.
Welder:

• The roles and responsibilities of the Welder at the workplace are as follow:
• Analyze defective welding equipment and parts and identify appropriate solution and inform supervisors;
• Perform welding according to welding procedure, specifications and standards;
• Ensure clean weld joint to obtain smooth look;
• Monitor welding processes and ensures absence of any welding defect.
Air Con technician / Electrician:

• The roles and responsibilities of the Air con technician / Electrician at the workplace are as follow:
• Ensures that the Air conditioner equipment installation complies as per the design and project specification;
• Prepare necessary tools and materials required for the execution of the work;
• Install refrigerant piping and cable between indoor and out door unit
• Perform cable pulling and termination, test of equipment.
• Perform daily housekeeping at workplace specially before leaving.

5.PREPARATION OF WORK

• Personnel should be equipped with full PPE all times at work area.
• Ensure that Permit to Work is obtained before start of any work.
• Ensure proper light sources, scaffolding platforms if necessary before starting work in the area.
• Site Supervisors shall ensure safety measures are adhered and implemented effectively on site.
• Project Engineer and Site Supervisor shall study the site for work access and parking location for heavy
equipment.
• Barricade the area and display appropriate signage.
• Conduct tool box meeting and brief the work crews about the tasks to be completed and the safe method and
Risk Assessment to be followed.
• Brief the work crews about the Emergency Procedure and the escape route and assembly point in case of
emergency.
• Ensure that personnel involved in the execution of the work are qualified and competent for the job.
• Workmen shall be identified with lamination vest.
• Housekeeping should be done at the work area before and after the work.

6.MATERIAL TRANSPORTATION, HANDLING AND STORAGE

• Mobilize all mechanical equipment’s such as airconditioner unit and tools for the work.Ensure that the
materials are secured firmly upon transporting to the work area.
• Before material transfer & shifting works, Site Supervisor and Lifting Supervisor should check and verify the
staging area and spacing to the location materials are to be shifted.
• Barricade the material staging area and ensure that only relevant personnel are allowed to enter.

Transportation

• In principle, suitable transport such as truck shall be selected and used for transportation. Road survey for
transportation access shall be conducted. Material shall be shipped so to not cut, kink, or otherwise damage
the air conditioner equipment during transport.

Material Receiving

• Refrigerant pipes and air conditioner equipment materials should be visually inspected and check for any
damage according to the approved Material Receiving Procedure of the project.

Air Conditoner Equipment

• Air conditioner equipmen should be inspected. Indoor and outdoor unit should be checked for dents and
painting condition. It should no gas leak, compressor should check for any oil leak.
• Operation instruction should be clear and readable.
• Hand held Remote Controller with batteries should check also.

Material Handling

• Care shall be taken to prevent dents and damage to copper tube, air conditioner equipment during handling
and transportation.
• The fabricated duct will be delivered to site by protective to safeguard from damage during transportation.

Material Storage

• Materials should be staged in a suitable manner to prevent damage or falling from their stored position.
• Materials should be issued and released from staging area as required and must be handled properly and
safely at all times.

7. FABRICATION WORK

7.1 Welding method

• Materials for the work shall be chosen and in accordance with relevant code
• Welder will be tested before joint in the project. Only welders who are qualified by examiniation to be
welded
• Welding joint need to prepare surface before welding . And undertake that the welding joint is clean and dry

7.2 Equipment and tool

• Equipment and power tools to be used should comply with safety standards and properly checked by EHS
department.
• Construction in-charge and end user workers shall make sure that equipment and tools are in good condition.
• Welding machine to be used should have adequate power output and duty cycle for the work. Power output,
return lead and cable connections should be adequately insulated to avoid strong arcing. Care shall be taken
when running or laying of leads to the work location to avoid damage to insulation. Proper earth clamps shall
be positively attached to the plate as close as possible to the work location. All welding machine shall be
placed at suitable location and must be installed with grounded earth .

7.3 Copper Tube cutting
• Copper tube is to be marked & cut as per actual required length.
• Use of standard copper tube cutter to cut copper tube for charging and discharge pipe in carefull manner.
• After cutting the tube, clean both ends of the tube and make sure free of foreign materials inside.
• The copper tube is then carefully bended as per tube route from indoor unit to out door unit.
• Insert copper tube in insulation tube.
• After installing copper tube, insert connecting fittings both end and flared using flaring tool.

7.4 Duct Fabrication


a) Minimum gauge thickness of ducts shall follow to SMACNA recommend to greater side duct
dimension.

b) The methods for manufacturing will be in accordance to SMACNA Specification,


manufacturer’s standard process and procedures to meet the requirements of the specification.

c) Duct Fabricate at site

• After semi-assemblies manufactured in fabricate factory, it carries a maximum duct with a minimum
quantity of vehicles to the site next to the assembly and production completed on the site.
• This method of construction can be seen the maximum effect in a short time.
• Preparing tools: Air Hammer, Air Compressor

d) Duct Reinforcing
The reinforcement for ductwork will be provided with SMACNA standard.

8.INSTALLATION WORK

8.1 Installation of indoor and outdoor unit

• Fabricate the hanger bracket of our door unit and install in the wall using anchor bolts
• Install indoor unit bracket to the specific location in the wall as well the outdoor unit outside of the room
• The indoor and outdoor unit are pre-charged with refrigeration gas from factory so be carful for the
accidental release of refirgerant gas.
• Terminate the power and control cable in indoor unit terminal and to the outdoor unit terminal.
• Do vacumming of copper tube to remove any dirt & air inside of pipe then connect to the indoor and out
door unit valve both discharge and charge line.
• Be sure the circuit breaker for air conditioner are in OFF conditione.
• Connect the main power supply to the indoor unit.

8.2 Duct Support Installation


Hanger rods, supports for duct work shall be installed according to SMACNA standard and “for construction
drawing” by Doosan Design Team.

8.3 Duct Installation
a) During construction, the contractor shall temporarily close duct openings to prevent debris entering ducts
and to prevent flange surface damage.
b) Before duct installation, check inside silicon damage and re-apply silicon.
c) To maintain air tight, before adhere flange gasket, the surface of flange should be cleaned.
When applying flange gasket, finish-point and start-point should be overlapped min 25mm.
After connection duct flange with bolt & nut, C-cleat should be installed within 150mm space with
cross-face against distortion.
d) Flange gasket thickness is min 5mm thick for air tight.
e) After duct installation, check duct straightness, duct hanger distortion, support rubber pad falling-out &
touch-up

8.4 Duct Cladding
Equipment
• Drilling Machine/ Grinding Machine & Angle Cutter, Rivet gun
• Adjustable spanner
a) Materials:
Aluminum and stainless sheet, accessories shall be in line with contract specification, documents, and
drawings
b) Installation procedure cladding of ductwork
• Aluminum sheets and STS sheets of approved type, quantity and thickness are cut as required and
rolled in the rolling machine to give rectangular profile and to form the longitudinal and
circumferential groove.

• Slip the rolled aluminum profile on to the insulated duct. Care shall be taken to ensure no damage to
insulation.

• Match the longitudinal grooves of the roll profile and joint by Aluminum rivets/ stainless steel screws
as applicable

• Fix the successive cladding and match the rectangular groove of previous cladding and fix screws/
rivets.

• The longitudinal joints are properly sealed by sealant.


• Care shall be taken to ensure, the cladding surface is free from damages, scratches, dirt etc.

• Cladding shall be firmly fixed on the duct.


8.5 Duct Insulation
a) The aluminum pins shall be attached to surface of duct by adhesive with spacing maximum 300 every
per
square.

b) Joints between two pieces of fiberglass wool must be attached with no gap each seam of each fiberglass
wool
must not be jointed in the same straight line
c) Finished seam shall be blocked off by aluminum tape
d) When the insulation glass wool cover foil have a damage then should be repair by Aluminum tape.
e) Aluminum band width 25mm Min, thickness 0.2mm Min, should be use.
f) Finished Insert the insulation at flanges shall be blocked off by aluminum tape.

8.6 Duct Fixture Installation

8.6.1 Supply Air Register & Return Air Grilles & Diffuser

a) Upon receiving materials check for both obvious and hidden damage.
b) Secure connection with Grille and Register to ducts & ceiling.
c) Grille / Register / Diffuser installation is final procedure of HVAC work. Do not make damage to
architecture ceiling and other near equipment.

8.6.2 Weather Louver

a. The basic intent of a proper installation is to secure the Louver as to prevent distortion

b. When handling multiple sections assemblies, use sufficient support to evenly lift at each section. Do not drag
or step on the damper during installation

c. Louver must be installed into opening wall and free of twist or other misalignment.

8.7 Fans, Kitchen hood and Motor Installation

Sheet metal parts, screws, clips and similar items inherently have sharp edges, and it is necessary that the
installer and service personnel exercise caution. The installation of this equipment shall be in accordance
with the regulations of authorities having applicable codes.
a. Wall Fan

• Install wall fan bracket to the wall by fixing screw as manufacturer provided.

• Check refer to the wall fan dimensional drawing for mounting hose locations.

• Check belt tension and sheaves for wear.

• Ensure that the power supply is as per the unit's name plate (Volts/Ph/Hz) requirement.

• Check manufacturer's equipment protection & preservation.

• Air obstruction/ recirculation must be avoided.

• Check tighten all screws, bolts and wire connections.

b. Kitchen hood

• Make sure the structure of the kitchen hood support must be in accordance with kitchen hood dimensio
n.

• Mark the location on the angle bar & structure of the kitchen hood support in line with kitchen hood ba
se mounting bolt point.

• Check for correct type and size of bracket supports according to the mounting detail.

• Place the kitchen hood on the rubber plate and make sure alignment with brackets support and hole.

• Tighten the bolts and secure properly.

• Carry out housekeeping for work area.

c. Motor

• Make sure the structure of the Motor support must be in accordance with Motor dimension.

• Mark the location on the angle bar & structure of the Motor support in line with Motor base mounting
bolt point.

• Check for correct type and size of bracket supports according to the mounting detail.

• Place the Motor nozzle on connection flange of canvas duct insure operation must be smooth and witho
ut vibration

• Tighten the bolts and secure properly.

• Carry out housekeeping for work area.

9. TEST
Air-conditioner :
• Turn ON the circuit breaker
• Start the unit using hand held remote controller.
• Check the starting current and monitor the running curring during running condition.
• Check for any abnormal noise.
• If there is, check what the cause of abnormal noise.
• Check the cooling and heating mode inside the room.
• If all are checked and in normal condition, the the air condioner are ready for use.
• Do proper house keeping after the work.

Exhaust fan:

• Turn ON the Exhaust fan switch.


• Check the air flow outside

Wall fan:

• Turn ON the wall fan switch.


• Check the air.
