Pre-lesson
Write the animals in scrambled letter order on the board. Pupils work in pairs and write each word correctly. (HOTS)
Lesson Delivery
1. Pupils do the quiz in pairs. The first time they do it without looking back through the unit.
2. Pairs check their work with other pairs.
3. Pupils then look back to check questions they did not know.
4. Check answers with the class.
5. Put toy flashcards on the board.
6. The flashcards should show pictures for this vocabulary

7. Write the words for the flashcards at the top of the board, so that pupils have to think about which word goes with
which flashcard.
8. Follow the picture dictionary section in the Teacher’s Book to help pupils achieve the reading learning standard for

10. Pupils draw and write examples of what they know.
Post lesson
Ask pupils what their favourite song, chant or game is from the unit. Do the song, chant or game again with the class.

Pre-lesson
Draw a happy face and sad face on the board. Say, e.g. I like .. elephant. (Pupils name), what about you?
Ask other pupils. Draw a picture of a cake on the board / show flashcards. Rub your tummy and say I like cake. Elicit from pupils as above.
Lesson Delivery
1. Hold up each flashcards in turn. Say the word for pupils to repeat in chorus.
2. Hold up each flashcard for pupils to say the word in chorus.
3. Write the word Food in the middle of the board and stick the flashcards around it to make a word map.
4. Pupils look at the picture in their Student’s Books. Elicit who they can see and where they are. (HOTS)
5. Pre-teach lunchtime.
ACTIVITIES
6. Play the recording. Pupils point the food and the words when they hear them. (CD2 02)
7. Pupils look at the chant. Play the recording. Pupils listen and follow the chant.(CD2 03)
8. Play the recording again, pausing after each verse for pupils to repeat.
9. Make sure pupils use singulars, e.g. cake, and plurals, e.g. carrots, correctly.
10. Do the chant as a class and then in groups. (21st CA)

Post lesson
Hold a flashcard so pupils cannot see it. Pupils try to guess, e.g. Is it cake? The pupil who guesses correctly comes and choose a flashcard
for the class to guess.

3. Give pupils time to look at the picture and match.

Make sentences using the flashcards. Some are true and some are false. Hold up two or three flashcards and make a
sentence, e.g. I’ve got cake, cheese sandwiches and apples. Pupils write Yes or No in their notebook.

1. Pupils look at the pictures in their Student’s Books. Elicit what food they can see and who they can see on the chair

4. Play the recording again, pausing after each verse for students to repeat.
5. When pupils have learnt the song, practice it with the whole class.

8. They draw lines and then check in pairs. Elicit and check.
