ANSWER:
Article no. 2 titled Resiliency, or concealing the shortcomings of our leaders? By Rev. Fr.
Antonio Cecilio T. Pascual best argues that Filipino resilience is worth regretting because
Filipinos are praised for their resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity. This
attitude stands out in the face of the government's lack of action. It is critical for our
government officials to respect, care for, and assert citizens' rights. If many elected officials
fail to execute their responsibilities, resilience would not be enough for Filipinos who are
victims of catastrophe and calamity. It is not acceptable for us Filipinos to have to give up
our lives and livelihoods every time a disaster strikes. Our political officials must do all
possible to alleviate the suffering of our citizens.

Dear Governor,
Many of us, including myself, are appreciative for your efforts
to safeguard our community. We appreciate the difficult job you've
been handed, and while no one likes the need for continued limits,
we thank you for making the difficult decisions with integrity. Our
public health specialists, researchers, doctors, nurses, and other
medical professionals have all worked together to provide us with
the tools we need to combat this pandemic. We have vaccines that
are both highly effective and extremely safe, even against the virus.
We know that vaccines alone are ineffective against this highly
contagious form, but that when combined with the use of a mask
and simple gathering restrictions, we may put an end to the menace.
However, accomplishing so necessitates everyone's participation.
That entails each of us doing our part; it also includes our elected
officials and public servants assisting us in protecting ourselves,
particularly those in our community who are unable to defend
themselves. We are grateful that we have capable and conscientious
leadership at the state level working to safeguard us all; we
recognize that this is not an advantage that every state has, and the
results speak for themselves. But we're well aware that we're not out
of the woods yet. To beat this pandemic, especially with the new
variants, everyone must fulfill their civic responsibility and assist
safeguard their family, friends, and community by being vaccinated if
they can and using masks when necessary.
Governor, we want to express our gratitude to you, the front liners
of Ilocos Norte, and the many others who are working tirelessly to
get us through this as swiftly as possible.
Resfectfully yours,
John Marshall E. Mateo
