The Microsoft Windows 10 Environment
Turn off your computer. Describe what you see on your computer screen.
1. Lock Screen – appears when you turn on, restart, or wake your computer from sleep
state.
Background image: The image fills the entire screen as the Lock Screen background. The
image can be changed by the user.
Date and Time: The current date and time always comes into view.
Network Status and Battery Life: The network icon will show if you are connected to the
internet or not. The battery icon will only show appear in gadgets that have batteries.

Tool Tip:
The Lock Screen may cotain other details aside from those metioned above.
To activate the Lock Screen, press Win + L.
2. Log-in Screen – allows you to enter your password to begin. The power button is also
available at the lower right corner of the screen if you decide not to continue logging in.
3. Desktop – is the main screen area that you will see after logging in to windows.

Launching and Closing a Application
To launch an application:
1. Click on the Start button.
2. Click on the All apps option.
3. Click on the app you want to open.
To close an application:
Press Alt + F4 at the same time, or
Click on the Close button on the uppermost right corner.
Exiting Windows
1. Click on the Start button.
2. Click on the Power button.
3. Click on the Shut down button.
