Objectives: In this lesson, you should be able to:


o Distinguish instruments in solo or with group, melodies/songs in C Major and
G Major.
o Sings solo or with group, melodies/songs in C Major and G Major.
o Patronize instruments in solo or with group, melodies/songs in C Major and G
Major.

Lesson 3 Answer Key
Activity 1
Key of C major
1. Bandurria
The modern bandurria has a small, pear-shaped wooden body, a short neck, and a flat back, with
five to seven (but usually six) paired courses of strings that are tuned g♯–c♯′–f♯′–b′–e″–a″
(beginning with the G♯ below middle C) and hitched to a guitarlike (tension) bridge.
2. Bamboo Buzzer
The bamboo buzzer is known variously as the balingbing or bunkaka (Kalinga) and batiwtiw
(Central Philippines). The bamboo buzzer is a bamboo tube which is open or split at one end. The
sound is produced by striking the split end against the palm of the hand. This is played in solo.
Key of G major
3. Trombone
The Trombone sounds by blowing into a mouthpiece too. It is written in C and notated in bass clef
and tenor clef for the upper register.
4. Timpani
Timpani are a central part of the percussion family because they support rhythm, melody and
harmony. Most orchestras have four timpani of different sizes and tuned to different pitches and
they are usually played by one musician.
5. Guitar
the key of G means a range of sound with G as the tonal center.
6. Bamboo Flute
Flute is pitched in G because the Renaissance and Baroque “bass” flute was in G.

7. Key of G major – The key of Leron Leron Sinta is in G Major it is a popular Filipino folk song
from the Tagalog region. In other words, for DJs who are harmonically
matchings songs, the Camelot key for this track is 10B.
8. Key of G major – The key of Bahay Kubo is originally published in the key of G major, it is a
filipino folk song composed by national artist Felipe Padilla de Leon.
9. Key of C major – The song “Imagine” is originally in the key of C Major from the album Imagine
by John Lennon released on September 09, 1971. These chords are simple
and easy to play in the guitar and piano.
10. Key of C major – Tagalog rendition was composed by Felipe De Leon and originally published
in key of C major.

o Sings solo or with group, melodies/songs in F Major.
o Patronize instruments in solo or with group, melodies/songs in F Major.

Discussion

In music, Melody is about the succession of tones heard in a song. It is


pleasant to hear. It is also an expression of the musician’s feelings and views.
In a musical piece, it is the part of the musical composition, which
discusses to the up and down movement of tones placed on the staff.

Melody applies the following major scale:

Key of F Major – it is a major scale that uses one flat (b). It is based on F.

In identifying the key signature of a song, always remember that it is named


after the letter name where the sofa syllaba DO is. The key signature tells us the
position of the DO on the staff. It also opens the places of the remaining pitches.

(Note: The sofa syllaba DO stands as the home tone.)

Below is the example of song applying F Major scale.

The sofa syllaba DO in the Key of F is found on the F space or on the first space of the
staff. For example, the song “May Pulis sa Ilalim ng Tulay” uses the Key of F because the
Do is on the F line.
