 New combined metadata, content, and Boolean search wizard
allowing for simpler day-to-day search operations.
 A new search within Dynamic Views allows the user to further
refine the query for the documents they are looking for.

simplified search forms all contribute to the enhanced searching
experience.

 Log files can be kept from 0 to

365 days
 A value of 0 means keep the log

value is 0.
 This is backed by a new server
reg value named
MaxLoggingFileDays.
 There is a new background
thread in the DM Server that will
wake up every 6 hours and
check for any files that exceed
the number of days and remove
them accordingly.

DM 10 Security Inheritance
New Security Inheritance Model

Prior to eDOCS 10
 All objects are secured
 With inherited security, the security that is applied to the container is then
applied to all individual items within it
 A container change requires propagation

New in eDOCS DM 10
 Parent container security remains the same
 Items inheriting security from a container will now have a pointer that uses
the same security settings of the container
 Removing inheritance from an individual item in a container, it goes back
to using the individual profile security for the item.

Better Performance for inherited security environments

OpenText Confidential. ©2014 All Rights Reserved. 68

New Security Inheritance Link
‘Security Link’
 New column in the profile
table:
‘Security Link’
 This is a pointer to the
parent item the security is
being read from and will use
that security for the
document
 If the value is 0 it is not
being inherited and DM will
use the security for that
specific document

OpenText Confidential. ©2014 All Rights Reserved. 69

New Security Inheritance Permissions

 The access rights and which

users or groups are stored
for the parent
 This information is only
stored once in the database
 All documents that are
inheriting security will read
those permissions
 This eliminates the need to
propagate the security to all
the individual items when it
changes

OpenText Confidential. ©2014 All Rights Reserved. 70

Email Filing Service DV Security

 Customers may be using Email Filing and using an

administrator account to file the emails to a Dynamic
View
 Some Dynamic Views may not have granted the service
account permissions to the DV
 New configuration setting to allow the Email Service
account to save to a DV
 HKLM\Software\Hummingbird\DOCSFusion\DVSupervisor
 Set this value to the USER_ID of a DOCS_SUPERVISORS user
and that user will be given the ability to create documents in
secured DV nodes.
 The user must be a member of the DOCS_SUPERVISORS group.

Install Connection Information
 Registry Keys for Client Connection Wizard to Set DCOM Security
The Client Connection Wizard has the ability to set DCOM security by making an internal
call to CoInitializeSecurity; two registry values allow you to specify certain parameter values
for the CoInitializeSecurity call.
Set the AuthnLevel and ImpLevel registry DWORD values in the following location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\¬Software\¬Hummingbird\¬Clusters
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\¬Software\¬Hummingbird\¬Clusters
AuthnLevel
This value controls the authentication level specified when calling ColnitializeSecurity.
0 – Causes DCOM to default to the machine-level settings for Authentication Level.
(Default)
1 – The primary purpose of this value is to allow clients to disable authentication in non-
domain environments. You must set this value to 1, the equivalent to the DCOM
authentication enumeration value.
ImpLevel
This value controls the impersonation level specified when calling CoInitializeSecurity. This
value defaults to 2 (RPC_C_IMP_LEVEL_IDENTIFY). The value can be changed to any of
the valid RPC_C_IMP_LEVEL_xxx constants; however consistency with DM Server settings
should be maintained. The default is 2.

 DM 10 upgrades and subsequent patches no longer reset the DM Connection settings

Check Your Forms After the Upgrade

 During the metadata upgrade process the DM 10 Library

Upgrade Utility will also modify the profile, folder and
search forms to support the new item type search feature
where the user can select Document, Email or Folder as
an additional filter when performing a search.
 You will need to open your existing forms in your libraries
to verify that the layout still has the look and feel you
desire. We have seen in some scenarios that this
upgrade process may impact the layout of a form and
cause some slight overlaps of form data.
