Job interview is considered one of the most useful tools for evaluating potential employees. It also
demands significant resources from the employer, yet has been demonstrated to be notoriously
unreliable in identifying the optimal person for the job. An interview also allows the candidate to assess
the corporate culture and demands of the job.
1. Behavioral interview questions- require answers based on the specific past incidents and experiences.
2. Situational interview questions- require answers to hypothetical questions that would show how you
will handle future situations in the job.
3. Working interview questions- require you to perform a job-related activity during the interview (e.g.,
solve a specific problem).
4. Stress interview questions- require you to answer questions that are designed to unsettle you so the
interviewer can have a glimpse on how you react in stressful situations.
Activity 2
Successful job interviews rely heavily in your ability to effectively present your access stories. One
approach to telling success stories is the STAR method (Situation-Tasks-Actions-Results). Below is an
example of the use of STAR approach in responding to an interview question.
Situation Describe a specific situation that I personally enjoy working in teams. Back in college,
you were in or the task that you we had a number of tasks that required
needed to accomplish. collaboration among us, students.
Tasks What was the goal that you were I was identified as the leader of the group. At first,
working on? everything was going according to our work
schedule until one of our groupmates started not to
come to our work meetings. My other groupmates
were dissatisfied with her explanation that they
were convincing me to drop her from the group.
