1.0 Introduction:
A combing machine is a one type spinning machine for spinning process of yarn which has comb
to straighten the fibers and extract neps, foreign matter and short fibers. Combing machine is
used to produce higher count yarn(stronger , more even, more compact, finer, smother). The yarn
which is produced by using combing machine is called combed yarn. This machine produces
finer yarn by removing short fibers below a pre-preselected length. It reduces length variation in
the cotton mixing for yarn market. It removes neps and foreign matter form the cotton. This
machine improves fiber parallelization and straightens of the fibers from spinning wool.
Spinning Process of textile industry the comber machine is used to convert combed sliver from
lap to produce finer and higher quality yarns. The comber machine improves the uniformity and
strength of fibers. The function of combing machine is straightening and parallelizing of fibers
and the removal of short fibers and impurities.
1. To remove the short fibres below a pre-selected length so that the spinner enable to
produce finer or better quality of yarn that can not be possible in carding state.
2. Elimination of remaining impurities.
3. Elimination of large proportion (not all) of the neps in the fibre.
4. Formation of sliver having maximum possible evenness.
5. To straighten the fibres.
Combing is a process which is introduced into the spinning of finer and high quality yarns from
cotton. The carded materials (sliver) contain certain amount of short fibres, neps, fine kitty and
leaf particles. Short fibres are a hindrance to spinning of finer counts where the number of fibre
in the cross section of the yarn is less. The short fibres cause thick and uneven places in the yarn
length and the yarn looks hairy. Apart from this, very short fibres do not contribute any thing to
yarn strength. Short fibres below a certain pre-determined length can be easily separated out by
using comber.

At first lap is fed by lap roller. Then lap is passed though the condenser. Material is passed under
the feed roller and through the nipper. Here top and bottom nippers are used to nip the lap. Then
lap is passed through the detaching roller. Here a cloth clearer is used to clean the lap. Then it
passes through the condenser and calendar roller. Then it enters into the drafting zone by the feed
table. Then the drafted material is passed by the help of belt into trumpet. Finally it is deposited
into can by passing though coiler calendar roller and coiler head.
9.0 Conclusion:
This practical is one of the most important practical for spinning section. By this practical we
learn about different parts & material passage of comber machine. Carding is the process of
arranging the fiber in parallel fusion. This is necessary for all staple fiber. Otherwise it would be
impossible to produce fine yarn. Before the raw stock can be made into yarn, the remaining
impurities must be removed. The fiber must be in different angle & they must be straight turned.
The card is the hard of the spinning mill & well carded is half spun. Demonstrated the immersed
significance of carding for the final of opening operation.
