(Review Lesson)

I. Objectives: During the review activities, pupils are expected to:

a. Identify the different properties of multiplication;
b. explain the importance of cooperation;
c. answer the challenge/exercises about the properties of multiplication
Value Focus: Cooperation
II. Subject Matter: Properties of Multiplication
Reference: Math for all IV. Pages 111-113
Materials: charts, strips, pictures
Motif: Under the Sea
III. Procedure
A.Preparatory Activities
1.Drill
Good morning, class? Good morning,teacher!
How are you this morning? We’re fine!
Very good!
Class, do you want to have a fishing activity? Yes, teacher!
Okay, I will divide the class into two groups.
The group starfish and the group jelly fish.
All you need to do is to get the fish around
that contains words. I need three representatives
in each group, the first group who get the 5
fishes that contains words first will be declared
as the winner.
Am I understood class? Yes ,teacher!

commutative associativ distributive identity zero

What group finished first? Group

What are the words in the fishes that youcaught? Commutative, Associative,
Distributive, Zero, and Identity
2. Motivation
Class, we have here a friend named
Ariel a mermaid who wants to have legs
and the only solution to her problem is the missing
pearl. Who wants to help Ariel in finding the pearl? I teacher!
That’s great!
But to find the pearl, there are some
Challenges that we need to surpass in 45 minutes only.
Only because after 45 minutes, the shell that contains pearl
willbe suddenly disappear. The first challenge is to
find the star fishes around. Each star fish has its corres-
ponding letter and that starfishes having those
letters will be used to forma phrase
that will describes the words you’ve got from
fishing earlier.
Am I understood class? Yes, teacher!

P-R-O-P-E-R-T-I-E-S O-F M-U-L-T-I-P-L-I-C-A-T-I-O-N

Class, what are the words formed

that describes the words associative,
distributive, identity, zero and commutative? Properties of Multiplication

B.Developmental Activities
1.Presentation
In every challenge, these three words
will be used. Therefore as we encounter those
challenges we will be learning Properties of
Multiplication.
a. Setting of Standards
What should a pupil do while facing
the challenges in order to surpass them easily? Follow direction, participate and
share ideas
Can I expect that from you class? Yes, teacher!
2. Recall of important points in the past lesson
Now, we will face again a challenge
by answering this problem.
Nemo a friend of Ariel forget what are
the properties of Multiplication, who wants to help
Nemo in remembering the properties of
Multiplication? I, teacher1
What property tells that the order of the
factors does not change the product? Commutative Property!
What do you call this property that when
two numbers are added and then multiplied by a
factor, the result will be the same as when each
number is multiplied by the factor and the products
are added? Distributive Property of Multiplication
over addition
What do you call this property that when
zero is multiplied by any number, the result is always
zero? Zero property
What property is it which states that any
number multiplied by one results to the number
itself? Identity property
What property is it which states that changing
the grouping of the factors does not change the product? Associative Property
Good job children!
You answer all the questions right.
Nemo: “Thank you” for helping meto remember
all those properties.

3. Review Proper
a. Activity 1
Class, in order to help Ariel fastly, we will be
facing 3 big challenges. Now, are you ready for the first challenge? Yes, teacher!
Good! Because CUTIE JELLY FISHis waiting for
us now.
But don’t you know that CUTIE JELLY FISH
is the one who knows the password to the gate of
King Fish where the pearl is being hidden? But before
she will give us the password, she wants us to answer
her questions first and after answering those, she
promised to give the password to us.
CUTIE JELLY FISH: I have here a box of
questions and I am fun of making this box travel
around with an accompanied music.
And note that this box and music was being
controlled by me. The moment the music stops, the
traveling box should stop too and the one holding it
will be the one to choose the question inside the box
and answer it.

Am I clear class? Yes teacher!

Questions:
1. What is Commutative Property?
2. What property example is this? ( 0 x 160 = 0 )
3. What is zero property?
4. What is Identity Property?
5. What Property is this? ( 1,144 x 1 = 1,744 )
CUTIE JELLY FISH:
Congratulations! Now I will teach/give
you the password. And I want you to know that it
is in the form of Song with dance steps which is
entitled“Pearly Shell”. Please follow after me. Yes, teacher!

b. Activity 2
Class, in order to help Ariel fastly, we will be
facing 3 big challenges is called Fill in the blank. And we
will be meeting Mr. Crab, the one who guarded the pearl
under King Fish Control.
Mr. Crab gave his instruction for us to follow
to proceed to the next challenge.
MR. CRAB: Before proceeding to the next level,
you are going to answer this sea chart. The chart has
missing items and what you are going to do now is to fill
in the blank the correct answers by those given strips of
words.
Answer Property
1. 4x7=7x4 _________________ Commutative Property
2. 2 x ( 5 + 5 ) = ( 2 x 5 ) + ( 2 x 5 ) _______20________ __________________
3. ( 12 x 5 ) x 2 = 12 x ( 5 x 2 ) _________________ Associative Property
4. 100 x 0 = ________0_________ __________________
5. 75 x 1 = _______75________ __________________

Mr. Crab: Congratulations you’ve passed the

nd
2 challenge.

c. Activity 3
Now let’s proceed to the next challenge.
In this level, we will meet the King Fish. King Fish
prepared a game for you class, and the game is
called “ yellow fish Hunting” if you can answer all the
questions or examples King Fish promised to give you
bonus for an easy way of finding the missing pearl for Ariel.
But before finding the yellow fishes, I want you to see this chart first.
This chart contains two columns, the Column B
content were already given. All you have to find now
is the corresponding examples which can be found
in the tail of those yellow fishes and put it in the column A
which you think an example of a certain property
in column B.
Is that clear class? Yes, teacher!
Ready. Set Go!
( Childrenftart finding fishes )
Column A (examples ) Column B ( Properties )
6x8=8x6 Commutative Property
8 x ( 4 + 10 ) = ( 8 x 4 ) + ( 8 x 10 ) Multiplication over Addition
( 11 x 2 ) x 5 = 11 x ( 2 x 5 ) Associative Property
0 x 12 = 0 Zero Property
36 x 1 = 36 Identity Property

So let’s check if you got the correct answers.

KING FISH: Congratulation! You deserve this bonus. (Shell

from King Fish A shell that contains the missing pearl for
Ariel.)

C. Concluding Activities
1. Generalization
Congratulation you successfully surpassed all
the challenges and received the
bonus shell.
While facing those challenges, did you learn
something class? Yes, teacher!
Like what? Like about properties of
Multiplication!
What are those? Commutative, Associative,
Distributive, zero and Identity
Property.
What is Commutative Property of Multiplication? Commutative Property tells
That the order of the factors
Does not change the product.
What about Associative Property Multiplication? Associative Property tells that
The grouping of the factors
Does not change the product..
What about Distributive Property of Multiplication
over Addition? The Distributive Property of
Multiplication tells that when
Two number are added and
Then multiplied by a factor, the
Result will be the same as when
Each number is multiplied by
the factor and the products are
added.
What does Zero Property of Multiplication tells us? Zero Property of Multiplication
Says that any number
Multiplied by zero gives a
product that is zero.

How about the Identity Property of Multiplication? Identity Property of

Multiplication states that any
number multiplied by one (1) is
the number itself.
Excellent!

2. Application:
Ops! We can’t give this pearl easily to
Ariel because there’s a big shark guarding her.
But don’t worry because there is one
solution in order that the shark will disappear
and that is only if we can answer all these.

Direction: Name the multiplication property that is shown by each equation. You may write
Commutative, Associative, Distributive, Zero or Identity.
1. 36 x 1 = 36 ________________
2. 3 x 8 = 8 x 3 ________________
3. 0 x 40 = 40 ________________
4. 3 ( 5 + 5 ) = ( 3 + 5 ) + ( 3 + 5 ) ________________
5. ( 2 x 8 ) x 7 = 2 x ( 8 x 7 ) ________________

3. Valuing
Class, in what part of the lesson you
experience cooperation? In facing the challenges
teacher, in finding the pearl.
In what other aspect can you show
cooperation? In doing household chores,
teacher!
Why do you say that you can apply or
show cooperation in Household chores? Because through cooperation/
helping each other we can
finish easily the household
chore.
Very Good!
IV. Evaluation
We have here shell contains problems.
Solve/answer them carefully because after answering Ariel will give all of you a gift of gratitude,
as a sign of her reward for all your help.

Direction: Complete each mathematical sentence by writing the mathematical expression that will
illustrate the given property of multiplication:

(Identity) 1. 402 x 1 =
(Associative) 2. 4 x ( 5 x 8 ) =
(Distributive) 3. 6 x ( 5 + 9 ) =
(Zero) 4. 78 x 0 =
(Commutative) 5. 16 x 7 =

V. Assignment

Here are the pearls. Something is written

here for you to do at home. These pearl will be your
access if you want to communicate her and promise
you to give her help, to whatever you ask her to.

Direction: Fill in the blank with will make them numbers that will make the equation true.

1. 17 x ____ = 0
2. ____ x 8 = 8
3. 13 x 9 = 9 x _____
4. ( 6 x 5 ) x 2 = _____ x ( 5 x 2 )
5. 15 x ( 8 + 1 ) = ( 15 x ___ ) + ( 15 x 1 )
