The famous trademark image comes from a painting by English artist Francis Barraud, A.R.A. and
titled His Master's Voice. It was acquired from the artist in 1899 by the newly-formed Gramophone
Company. According to contemporary Gramophone Company publicity material, the dog, a fox
terrier called Nipper, had originally belonged to Barraud's brother Mark. When Mark Barraud died,
Francis inherited Nipper, along with a cylinder phonograph and a number of recordings of Mark's
voice. Francis noted the peculiar interest that the dog took in the recorded voice of his late master
emanating from the trumpet, and conceived the idea of committing the scene to canvas.

The Coca-Cola script was designed by an amateur, Frank Robinson, the fledgling company's
bookkeeper. He devised both the Spencerian script and the brilliantly concise words beneath:
"Delicious and Refreshing." The bottle is among the most recognizable icons in the world, a design
that has come to symbolize the youthful exuberance of America. Countless variations have been
released over the decades, but the enduring classic is the curved vessel designed by the Root
Glass Company of Terre Haute, Indiana, and introduced in 1915. A Coca-Cola dispenser was later
designed by Raymond Loewy. Coca-Cola was registered as a trademark in 1887 and by 1895
Coca-Cola was being sold in every state and territory in the United States. In 1899, the company
began franchised bottling operations in the United States.

I finally found the official explaination from Toyota

The current Toyota Mark consists of three ovals: the two perpendicular center ovals represent a
relationship of mutual trust between the customer and Toyota. These ovals combine to symbolize
the letter "T" for Toyota. The space in the background implies a global expansion of Toyota's
technology and unlimited potential for the future.

The new logo was des gned by international brand cons ltancy Fture Brand, which has worked
with clients such as Walt Disney, GlaxoSmithKline, MSN and British Airways The logo retains the
famous `UPS brown' but replaces the package with a golden arc on top of the shield. The intention
is to convey an impression of "freshness and excitement" that reflects the company's new vision of
`synchronised commerce'. The new logo draws from the company's history, leverages its brand
equity and uses its traditional colours to suggest a company that is thinking ahead and is leading
the way in package delivery and other businesses. "The arc at the top and the use of light suggest
energy and forward-thinking qualities on a global scale. The redeveloped logo is, in fact, just the
cornerstone of the company's reinvigorated visual system.‘

UPS' association with the colour brown goes back to the early years of the company's existence.
When the company expanded its delivery fleet, its founders were faced with the task of deciding
on what colour to paint their vehicles. Following some discussion, they zeroed in on brown or
yellow as the colours most appropriate for their fleet. However, one of the founders pointed out
that brown was a better bet. In fact, railway carriages of the time were painted brown simply
because it was easier to keep them clean, he explained. And so brown it was In fact, the company
has the colour brown trademarked and it appears on shade cards in the US as `UPS brown'

When the patented name "Mercedes" was registered in September 1902 Daimler Motoren
Gesellschaft had a successful brand name but still lacked a characteristic trademark. Then Paul
and Adolf Daimler - the company founder¶s two sons, and now in charge of the business -
remembered that their father had once used a star as a symbol.

The image below shows the evolution of the star over the years

Altria is derived from the Latin word altus, and conveys the notion of "reaching ever higher." It is
meant to express important aspects of who Altria chooses to be²companies and people that
passionately strive for peak performance, that are never satisfied with past achievements and that
embrace innovation, growth and new challenges.

| hL

The Mosaic symbol in the Altria Group logo is meant to convey the diversity that defines Altria's
companies around the world²both the diversity of its operating companies' powerful brands,
which their consumers know and trust, and the diverse people, cultures and knowledge that drive
the Company's success. With its bright colors and unmistakable energy, the Mosaic symbol is a
visual metaphor for Altria and its companies.

In 1933, the original company Precision Optical Instruments lab, named their new camera

they had to come up with a universally acceptable name. The name Canon was born in 1935 and
was a perfect transition from Kwanon.‘

ïvery once in a while, you will see the Google logo change to represent a current topic e.g The
Olympics, World Cup etc. These logos are called Google doodles. The doodles are currently created
by Dennis Hwang and he has created over 150 doodles since he started working at Google.
Apparently, the first doodle was produced by the founders Larry and Sergey. The logo was created
when they attended the Burning Man festival in summer 1999. They put a little stick figure on the
home page logo in case the site crashed and someone wanted to know why nobody was
answering the phone.‘
