What Phase of The Curriculum Process Do You Find Very Important As A Teacher & Why?

The teacher finds the implementation phase of the curriculum process to be very important. In this phase, the teacher selects what to teach from the curriculum document and translates it into lessons and activities for students. The teacher plays an autonomous and influential role in bringing the intended curriculum to life for students through interaction and planned learning opportunities. For effective implementation, the teacher must understand the curriculum well and be involved in its planning and development.

WHAT PHASE OF THE CURRICULUM PROCESS DO YOU FIND VERY

IMPORTANT AS A TEACHER & WHY?

The phase of the curriculum process that I find very important as a teacher is implementation
curriculum. In this phase, the teacher serves as an implementing agent wherein the teacher
teacher selects and mixes the various aspects of knowledge contained in a curriculum document
or syllabus into practice. Curriculum implementation refers as to how the planned or officially
designed course of study is translated by the teacher into syllabuses, schemes of work and
lessons to be delivered to students. The implementation which plays as an essential part of
curriculum development, brings into existence the anticipated changes.  Implementation takes
place as the learner acquires the intended experiences, knowledge, skills, ideas and attitudes that
are aimed at enabling the same learner to function effectively in a society.

In implementation curriculum, the teachers view their role in curriculum implementation as an

autonomous one. They select and decide what to teach from the prescribed syllabus or
curriculum. Since implementation takes place through the interaction of the learner and the
planned learning opportunities, the role and influence of the teacher in the process is
indisputable. If the teacher is to be able to translate curriculum intentions into reality, it is
imperative that the teacher understand the curriculum document or syllabus well in order to
implement it effectively. If the curriculum is what teachers and students create together, the
teacher must play a more significant role in designing the curriculum. Teachers must be involved
in curriculum planning and development so that they can implement and modify the curriculum
for the benefit of their learners.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A GRADUATE FROM A TEACHER EDUCATION
PROGRAM LACKS THE COMPETENCIES/ STANDARDS OF A BEGINNING
TEACHER?

If ever a graduate from teacher education program lacks competencies/standards of a beginning

teacher, they may either get hired and struggle, along with their students. They may stick it out
and continue to struggle, impacting their joy and satisfaction and the learning of students.
Someday, perhaps an administrator will help them to either improve their skills or release them
from their position. They may not get hired at all. Or if ever they will be hired, they will be
working as substitutes, while working other jobs. But they don’t ever get hired for a permanent
position.

I believed that teacher should be equipped enough with knowledge and skills to become a
competent teacher and to be able to reach this, teachers should continuously learn and acquiring
new knowledge and skills through experience not just through self-paced learning, reading
modules, studying it, answering activities.

Being competent and well-performing teacher is one of the most important resources in any
educational institution. The teacher is considered the professional agent and the most directly
responsible person in the process of learning; he is the one in charge of making/helping students
learn and benefit or suffer from the quality of his teaching. The teacher and the quality of his
teaching are always under discussion and receive prevalent importance in education. A teacher
holds so much power that they influence all facets of a student’s life. Among the aspects that a
teacher affects are the philosophy of the students. Teachers have the capability to mold the frame
of mind of their students, encourage idealism and nurture them to become law abiding citizens
later on. Learning as they say is a two-way process. It is not only the teacher who imparts
knowledge but also the students. Educators teach the students what is life while students teach
their mentors how to live life.
