This User’s Manual (hereinafter referred to as the “Manual”) introduces functions, features,
battery installation and mode switching of the UTC (up the coax) controller (hereinafter referred
to as the “Controller”).

1 Introduction
The Controller is installed between HDCVI camera and DVR (digital video recorder) through
coaxial cable. After installing HDCVI camera and connecting it to DVR, you can set up the
camera by the Controller. The Controller has the following features:
 Switch among multiple video formats: CVI, AHD, TVI, and CVBS.
 Supports OSD menu control and zoom control in CVBS video format.
 Quick start from sleep mode with one button.
 Low power consumption in standby mode.
 Easy and simple to operate.

2 Battery Installation
CAUTION
 Put batteries into the battery holder correctly according to their anodes and cathodes.
 Use two new AAA alkaline dry batteries.
 Take the batteries out of the Controller in case of battery leakages if the Controller is not
used for a long period.
 Do not use new batteries and old ones at the same time, and do not use batteries with
different modes at the same time.
 Properly dispose the batteries that you replaced.
Step 1 Pull the battery cover off the Controller.
Step 2 Put two new AAA alkaline dry batteries (not provided) into the battery holder, and make
sure the "+" side of the battery touches the "+" terminal.
Step 3 After correctly inserting the battery, close the battery cover.

3 Switching Mode
Two modes are available for the Controller: Mode A and Mode B.
 Mode A: You can switch among four video formats: CVI, CVBS, AHD, and TVI.
 Mode B: You can adjust OSD menu and realize zoom control in CVBS video format.
You can press and hold ENTER + CVI for 8 s to switch between Mode A and Mode B. For
details of buttons, see Figure 3-1 and Table 3-1.

 It is Mode A by default after the Controller is started.


 The Controller is only applicable to HDCVI cameras that support multiple video formats
and with resolution of 1080P and below.
 When switching modes, exit from the OSD menu first by selecting Exit on OSD menu.
 If the Controller is not used for a long period, take the batteries out of the battery holder.

Press ENTER to start the Controller.

⑥ ENTER
If there is no operation for the Controller within 30 s, the red
indicator turns off, and the Controller enters low power mode.
Press and hold ENTER + CVI to switch between Mode A and
Mode B, and the red indicator glows (Mode A) or flashes (Mode
B).

⑥ + ⑤ ENTER + CVI
It is Mode A by default after the Controller is started, and the red
indicator glows. Switch the video format to CVBS (see steps in
Mode A), and then press and hold ENTER + CVI for 5 s, the red
indicator flashes. Mode B is successfully switched.

Mode A
Step 1 Connect the Controller to the camera and the recorder.
Step 2 Press ENTER to start the Controller.
After starting the Controller, indicators corresponding to the four buttons above the
ENTER button glow for 1 s, and after the Controller detected the current video format,
only indicator corresponds to this format glows.

For indicators correspond to different formats, see Table 3-1.


Step 3 Press and hold the button of target video format for 8 s, until indicator corresponds to
the current video format is off. Wait 3 s, and the indicator corresponds to the target
video format glows. The video format is successfully switched.

Mode B
Step 1 Switch the video format to CVBS (see steps in Mode A), and then press and hold
ENTER + CVI for 5 s to switch to Mode B.
After successfully switching to Mode B, the red indicator flashes. You can press and
hold TVI or SD to zoom in/out.
Step 2 Press and hold ENTER for 5 s, and then the OSD menu of CVBS video format is
displayed. You can select and adjust OSD information by pressing the buttons on the
Controller.

Switching Mode 4
 In Mode B, to zoom in/out, you need to exit from OSD menu first by selecting Exit
on OSD menu.
 In Mode B, if there is no operation for 30 s, the Controller enters sleep mode. After
pressing ENTER to wake up the Controller, it automatically enters Mode A, and
the red indicator glows.
