ICT stands for Information and Communication technology. According to Mary K. Pratt ICT
is infrastructure and components that enable modern computing.
It has a played a huge role in improving vast sectors of the economy, which may include the

The Benefits of Using ICTs in Education

Education is the socially organized and regulated process of continuous transference socially
significant experience from previous to following generation.
ICT in education supports online learning, distance learning (during the Covid 19 period
students were learning online.) It promotes equal learning opportunities to obtain education
and information to all students and pupils.
Additionally, it helps in the distribution of information to far areas through the use of radios, It
allows schools from different places to share information among themselves, and provides
teachers with new sources of information and knowledge.

The Benefits of Using ICTs in Banking

According to Kimberly Amadeo, “Banking” is an industry that handles cash, credit and other
financial transactions for individual consumers and businesses alike.
ICT helps bank to provide telephone banking. Telephone banking allows customers to access
their account over the people. Telephone banking is a cost saving techniques for banks.
telephone banking banks helps banks to reduce the operations cost and increase their revenues.

Furthermore, it helps banks to provide Automated teller Machines in banks. ATM is electronic
computerized telecommunication device that allows customers to access the bank account from
other places apart from the bank premises.
It helps banks to provide Internet banking. Internet banking helps customers access their
account Ms with the help of internet through intelligent communication gadgets. This is time
saving and convenient for customers.

The Benefits of Using ICTs in Medicine

ICT in the medicine sectors helps the sector with the functioning of health care system by
improving the management of information and access of two information.
It helps improve the delivery of care through better mapping of public health, better training,
sharing of knowledge among health workers and supporting health workers in primary.

It helps in communication about health through sending information among health workers and
the general public.

The Benefits of Using ICTs in Business

Better Decision-Making

ICT systems allow your business to store, process, analyse and share vast amounts of data.
The information available from corporate data enables managers and employees to make
decisions quickly and accurately so that they can manage operations effectively and respond
rapidly to business opportunities or threats.

Increased Manufacturing Productivity

By automating business processes and giving employees ICT tools, your business can
improve its individual and overall productivity. On the production line, for example,
solutions such as computer-aided design can help to reduce set-up times and improve
manufacturing accuracy so that employees spend less time on reworking.

Improved Virtual Collaboration

Communication networks enable your project teams to collaborate effectively. By using


videoconferencing or web conferencing over the Internet, teams can hold virtual meetings
that bring together members from different locations, or different organizations, such as
suppliers or business partners.

The Role of ICT in Tourism

Effective and high-speed ICT infrastructure and software applications in the tourism and
hospitality industry are crucial for tourism development. ICTs facilitate a variety of operations
- product selection, ordering, fulfilment, tracking, payment and reporting to be performed with
one easy-to use tool.

E-Tourism - Demand and Technology-driven Revolution

The Internet revolutionizes flexibility in both consumer choice and service delivery processes.
This is because they have experienced high levels of service and because the standard of living

has grown considerably. As a result, tourists have become more demanding, requesting high-
quality products and value for their money and, perhaps more importantly, value for time.

E-Tourism Impacts on Marketing Mix

ICTs provide unique opportunities for innovative organizations to redesign tourism products
to address individual needs and to satisfy consumer wants. ICTs have also become part of the
core product, especially for business travellers who now expect certain facilities to be available
during their trip.

E-Hospitality

ICTs have penetrated hospitality management at a fast pace, integrating the hotel operations,
reshaping the marketing function, improving total efficiency, providing tools for marketing
research and partnership building, and enhancing customer services, while also providing
strategic opportunities.

The Benefits of Using ICTs in Agriculture

ICT farming, particularly the use of multimedia technology and other innovative approaches
to interactive knowledge transfer processes, are transforming agricultural extension services.
Some of the key areas where ICT in agriculture plays a vital role are:

Enhanced market access

ICT-enabled market information services enhance farmers’ access to nearby markets and their
awareness of current consumer demands through the transfer of information from the traders.
ICTs also foster networking among the agri-stakeholders, which facilitates increased market
access for inputs and product marketing and trade.

Environmentally sustainable agriculture

Budget-friendly mobile phones, internet, and other services to disseminate information, in


addition to providing rural farmers with improved access to climate-smart solutions and the
appropriate knowledge to use them.

Early warning system (EWS) for disaster management

ICTs provide actionable and real-time information to governments and communities on disaster
prevention and management. They also increase the efficiency of responding efforts during
emergency situations and drive more effective communication by providing the people with
timely advice on risk mitigation procedures.
