MMI (Man Machine Interface) Software Upgrade

1. Introduction
This work instruction explains the proper upgrade procedure for the user interface board.

2. How to prepare USB stick (or SD card)


When you don’t have a prepared USB stick (or SD card).
First format the USB stick (or the SD card) to FAT or FAT32. (Figure 1 USB format)

If you have downloaded the software from the Daikin Business Portal
(E.g: MMI_SDRAM_1.5.0)

1. Copy the zip file to the USB stick (or to the SD card).
2. Unzip into the USB stick (or the SD card). (Figure 2 Unzip into USB stick)

3. You should see now an instruction file (‘config.cfg’) and a firmware folder named: ‘firmware’
containing: (Error! Reference source not found.)
- The firmware binary (e.g: mmi_sdram.1.5.0.bin)
- The CRC check file (e.g: mmi_sdram.1.0.0.crc).

4. Copy these two files in “firmware” and paste them in the root of the USB. (Figure 4 Files in

3. Update the firmware of the user interface.


1. In the MMI menu, go to information -> About, and check what is the current firmware
version of the unit interface (1st menu item).
Note: You can write it down somewhere to be always sure about the firmware version that
you will update from.
2. Power off the device/unit.
3. Disconnect the user interface from the hydro PCB by removing the P1P2 cable.
4. Insert the USB stick (or SD card) into the USB (or SD card) interface on user interface board.
5. Power on the device/unit
6. User interface will be starting and showing the current firmware version. Wait for few
seconds until the update screen is shown (progress screen)
7. Once the update is successfully finished, the user interface will restart and new firmware
version will be shown on the start up screen containing the logo.
8. Remove power from the device/unit
9. remove the USB stick (or SD card) and reconnect the P1P2 cable.
10. At next power on, the user interface will normally start synchronizing with the indoor unit
showing the below progress screen.

Troubleshooting:
➢ If during step 6 the update screen is not shown, repeat the procedure starting from step 1.
➢ If step 6 is not shown, please make sure that you are not updating to the same SW version.
