Detailed Lesson Plan in Science VII: Prepared by

The lesson plan compares the interior structure of the Earth to everyday objects like fruits. Students are divided into groups to investigate the layers of an avocado, apple, and boiled egg, and compare them to Earth's lithosphere. Each group reports their findings: the skin compares to the crust, flesh to the mantle, and seed/yolk to the core. A video presentation defines the lithosphere as the solid outer part of Earth consisting of the crust, mantle, and core. The crust is the outermost layer where life exists, while the mantle is below.

III. Procedures

Teacher’s Activity Learner’s Activity

A. Preliminary Activity
1. Prayer
Please rise for a short prayer to be learners will rise up for a short prayer
led by (name of student)

2. Greetings
Good morning, class! Good morning, ma’am!
How are you today? We are good, ma’am!
3. Checking Attendance & assignments
Say present if your name is called Present

Class, do we have assignments? Yes, we have!

Okay, pass your assignments

B. Developmental Activities
1. Review
Class, what are Newton’s Laws The three laws of motion are the law of
of motion? Inertia, law of acceleration and law of
interaction.
What is law of inertia? Law of inertia states that an object at rest
stay at rest until an outside force causes to
move.
What is the law of acceleration?
The Law of acceleration states that
the

acceleration of an object is directly

proportional to the force applied

and

inversely proportional to the mass of

the
object.
What is the law of interaction?
The Law of interaction states that
for every
force
of action there is an equal and

opposite reaction.
Very Good!
2. Motivation
Class, do you know the song entitled Yes, we do!
“EARTH”?

Now, let’s sing it together.

There is a planet we call home. There is a planet we call home.

And earth is the name. And earth is the name.
E-A-R-T-H E-A-R-T-H
E-A-R-T-H E-A-R-T-H
E-A-R-T-H E-A-R-T-H
And earth is its name. And earth is its name.

We must all work to care for her. We must all work to care for her.
To keep her safe and clean. To keep her safe and clean.

This planet we call home. This planet we call home.

C. Activity
Let's do something, class. I'll organize you
into groups. You will be divided into three.
Each group will be given assigned material
and activity sheets that will be used as
your guide in carrying out the activity. If
You've already completed the task; all that
remains is for you to post it on board.
Following that, each group will have a
reporter who will share the information
in front of the class

Group I:
Comparing the structures of the earth
Using an avocado fruit.
Problem:
How can the interior of an avocado fruit (Group I perform the activity)
Be compared to the interior of the planet earth?
Group II:
Comparing the structures of the earth
Using an apple fruit.
Problem:
How can the interior of an apple fruit be compared (Group II perform the Activity)
to the interior of the planet earth?
Group III:
Comparing the structures of the earth using the
Boiled egg.
Problem:
How can the interior of the egg be compared to (Group III perform the Activity)
the interior of the planet earth?

Since all the groups are already finished with their activity,
Then let’s proceed to report.
Group I will be the first one to show to the class The avocado fruit has three layers.
their answers. The skin is compared
to the earth’s crust
The flesh is compared to the earth’s mantle.
The seed is compared to the earth’s core.
Let’s give an ice cream clap for group I.
Group II, it’s your turn to share with the class The apple fruit has three layers.
your answers. The skin is compared
to the earth’s crust
The flesh is compared to the earth’s mantle.
The seed is compared to the earth’s core.
Let’s give a yes clap to Group II
Group III will now report their answers. The boiled egg has three layers.
The shell is compared to the earth’s
crust
The egg white is compared to the earth’s mantle.
The egg yolk is compared to the earth’s core.
Let’s give a hand to group III.

D. Analysis
Before we will go to the discussion
Consider this following questions to
Analyze.
● What did you observe?
● Is there similarities to the apple, avocado, and egg
compared to the lithosphere of the earth?
● What description or characteristics of the layers
of the lithosphere did you notice?

E. Abstraction
Class while watching the video presentation,
you need to take down the important information
about it for I will ask you questions later about
what you have learned from it.
( Video presentation- INSIDE THE EARTH)
Class, as what you have seen in the video presentation,
What is Lithosphere? The lithosphere is the
outer part of the solid
earth consisting of the crust,
mantle and
the core.

what are the three major parts of

the lithosphere? The
earth’s lithosphere has three main
layers.
The Crust, mantle, and core.

Now, class, what is the outermost

layer of the
earth’s lithosphere?
The
outermost layer of the earth is the
crust.
⮚ That’s right! The crust is the outermost and the
thinnest layer of the earth’s
lithosphere. It is in
this layer where living things are
found. It is divided
into two parts: the continental crust
is composed
mostly of the rocks called granite
while the oceanic
crust is composed of basalt.

Now let’s proceed to the second

layer.
What is the second layer of the
earth lithosphere? The
second layer of the earth
lithosphere is the mantle.
Correct! The second layer is the
mantle.
What can you say about its thickness
compared The mantle is
thicker than the crust.
to the crust?

⮚ Yes, it is thicker than the crust. The mantle is the thickest layer.
It is about 5,200 km. thick and it has
two distinct layers:
the upper mantle and the lower
mantle. The upper mantle
is about 2,900 km and is a solid
layer directly beneath the crust.
⮚ The lower mantle is about 2,300 km thick and is composed
mainly of iron and magnesium. The
mantle is the layer
where most of the heat is located.

Now let’s move on to the third layer.

What is the third layer of the earth
lithosphere? The third layer
of the earth lithosphere is the core.
⮚ Very good! The third layer of the earth is the core. It is
innermost portion of the earth’s
interior. This layer is
dense and under great pressure. The
core is divided into
a fluid core and a solid inner core.
The outer core is about
2,300 km thick and is composed
mainly of iron rich, metal alloy.
The inner core is about 1,200 km
thick and is made of
solid iron and nickel. The presence
of the iron and nickel
makes the core the densest layer of
the earth interior.
Temperature of the inner core may
reach to 5,500 degree
Celsius which is hotter than the
surface of the sun.

Now let’s go back to the answers of

your group activity.
Which group do you think got the
correct answer?
Everybody got the correct
answer.

Very good! Let’s give a whistle boom

clap to
everyone.

F. Application
Draw and illustrate the earth’s
lithosphere.
And also give brief description on
each
parts of the earth’s lithosphere.

G. Generalization
What is Lithosphere? The lithosphere is the
outer part of the solid
earth consisting of the crust,
mantle and
the core.
What are the three layers of the
Lithosphere? The three layers of the earth
are the crust, mantle, and the core.
Very good!
How can you describe the earth’s crust?
The crust is the outermost and the
thinnest layer of the earth. It is in this layer
living things are found.
Correct!
Now, how can you describe the mantle?
The mantle is the thickest layer of
the earth and it is where most of the heat is
located.
That’s right!
How about the core, how can you describe
it? the core is the innermost portion of
the earth’s interior. The layer is dense and
under great pressure.

IV. Evaluation
Make a Diorama about the earth’s
lithosphere
and present it to the class.
