Al Badar Educational & Charitable Trust’s Al Badar Dental College and Hospital was
established in the year 1992. It is located at Kalaburagi district in the Northern part of Karnataka.

The college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru and
recognized by Dental Council of India. It is a well-known professional college offering both BDS and
MDS courses.

The institute is spread over 1.25 lakh sq. feet area and has well equipped dental and medical
departments along with spacious lecture halls, examination halls, auditorium, recreation room and
also triage area for screening of patients in this pandemic. The departments are fostered with well
qualified staff and equipped with state of art equipment for training the students as well as to
provide quality treatment to the patients maintaining covid safety protocols.

The Institute had adapted digital platform for teaching and learning methods for the
students. The college campus has wifi connection for students to access books and journals and the
department are well connected with LAN.

The college aims at imparting value based dental education and serving the humanity with
excellent dental health care with specific covid precautions.

DENTAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL, which was established in the
year 1992 and continues to be one of the premier dental colleges
of India. Recognized by the Dental Council of India and affiliated
to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, the
College offers BDS Course with the intake of 100 seats and MDS
Course in seven specialties viz Oral Medicine & Radiology, Oral &
Maxillofacial Surgery, Periodontics, Conservative Dentistry &
Endodontics, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics and Oral Pathology &
Microbiology with total intake of 22 seats. We pursue the vision
to provide quality education and bring out well trained graduates and postgraduates in the field of
dentistry, who excel in knowledge and skill and also foster good human values. The college runs
under the able guidance of well-organized and proficient management and has well qualified and
research-oriented faculty. The institute has well designed classrooms, clinics and laboratories with

AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE


Aim:
The students during training in the institution should acquire adequate knowledge, necessary skills
and attitudes which are required for carrying out all the activities appropriate to general dental
practice involving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of anomalies and diseases of the teeth,
mouth, jaws and associated tissues. The students should also understand the concept of community
oral health education and be able to participate in the rural health care delivery programs existing in
the country.

Objectives:
The objectives are dealt under three headings namely
(a) Knowledge and understanding (b) skills and (c) attitudes.

a. Knowledge and understanding


The students should acquire the following during the period of training.
1. Adequate knowledge of the scientific foundations on which dentistry is based and good
understanding of various relevant scientific methods, principles of biological functions and
should be able to evaluate and analyze scientifically various established facts and data.
2. Adequate knowledge of the development, structure and function of the teeth, mouth and jaws
and associated tissues both in health and disease and their relationship and effect on general-
state of health and also the bearing on physical and social well-being of the patient.
3. Adequate knowledge of clinical disciplines and methods, which provide a coherent picture of
anomalies, lesions and diseases of the teeth, mouth and jaws and preventive, diagnostic and
therapeutic aspects of dentistry.
4. Adequate clinical experience required for general dental practice.
5. Adequate knowledge of biological function and behavior of persons in health and sickness as
well as the influence of the natural and social environment on the state of health so far as it
affects dentistry.

b. Skills
The student should be able to demonstrate the following skills necessary for practice of
dentistry
1. Able to diagnose and manage various common dental problems encountered in general dental
practice, keeping in mind the expectations and the right of the society to receive the best
possible treatment available wherever possible.
2. Acquire skill to prevent and manage complications if encountered while carrying out various
dental surgical and other procedures.
3. Possess skill to carry out required investigative procedures and ability to interpret laboratory
findings.
4. Promote oral health and help to prevent oral diseases wherever possible.
5. Competent in control of pain and anxiety during dental treatment.

c. Attitudes
The student should develop during the training period the following attitudes.
1. Willing to apply current knowledge of dentistry in the best interest of the patients and the
community.
2. Maintain a high standard of professional ethics and conduct and apply these in all aspects of
professional life.
3. Seek to improve awareness and provide possible solutions for oral health problems and needs
throughout the community.

COURSES OFFERED:
BACHELOR OF DENTAL SURGERY (B.D.S)
Duration: 4 years + 1year compulsory rotatory internship
Seat matrix: 100 under graduates

ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS:


A candidate seeking admission to first BDS course:
 Shall have cleared the qualifying examinations with 50% marks taken together in Physics,
Chemistry and Biology. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste,
Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and
Biology taken together in qualifying examination be 40%
 He/she shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December, of the year of
admission to the BDS course.
 In order to be eligible for admission to BDS Course for a particular academic year, it shall be
necessary for a candidate to obtain minimum of marks of 50th percentile in ‘National
Eligibility cum-Entrance Test to BDS course. However, in respect of candidates belonging to
Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks shall be at
40th percentile. In respect of candidates with locomotory disability of lower amendments,
the minimum marks shall be at 45th percentile.

MASTER OF DENTAL SURGERY (MDS)


Duration: 3years

ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR POST GRADUATE STUDENTS:


A candidate for admission to the Master in Dental Surgery course,
 must possess a recognized degree of Bachelor in Dental Surgery awarded by a university or
institute in India and registered with the State Dental Council and has obtained provisional
or permanent registration and has undergone compulsory rotatory internship of a year in an
approved/recognized dental college.
 Admission to postgraduate course will require qualifying NEET conducted in the manner, as
prescribed by the National Board of Examination or any other authority appointed by the
Central Government in this behalf. However, in respect of candidates belonging to
Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks shall be at
40th percentile. In respect of candidates with locomotory disability of lower amendments,
the minimum marks shall be at 45th percentile.

DENTAL DEPARTMENTS

DEPARTMENT OF ORAL MEDICINE AND RADIOLOGY


The department of oral medicine and radiology is
working under the proficient & eminent HOD, reader &
senior lectures. The department is well equipped with all
the teaching aids. The department houses Radiology
section, Tobacco cessation clinic, Orofacial pain clinic,
department library, UG and PG clinics. The department has
an infection control committee, which is involved in planning, monitoring, evaluating, updating and
educating students, interns & nonteaching staff. The department is actively involved in research
activities and guiding undergraduates and post graduates for scientific presentations at various
national and state conferences. The staff and postgraduates are credited with numerous
publications.

DIGITAL EXTRAORAL RADIOGRAPHY UNIT


DEPARTMENT OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY
The department has a colossal infrastructure with separate undergraduate and postgraduate
section, seminar room, OT complex, female and male wards, recovery room, 30 dental chairs in the
undergraduate section, 19 chairs in the postgraduate section and latest equipments like; piezo-
electric unit, cryo surgery unit, fibre optic intubation unit, fibre optic light source, multiple dental
implant kits, etc. Postgraduate students are sent to higher medical centers like KIDWAI & GSR, for
advanced training in cancer &aesthetic procedures. A hands-on course is conducted on Basic Dental
Implantology for our postgraduate students every year with certification. Postgraduate students are
also trained in various medical specialties as part of their academic curriculum. Postgraduate
students also attend various conferences & workshops. Our students have won laurels in various
State/National conferences and also bagged ranks at the University (RGUHS) level on more than one
occasion.

DEPARTMENT OF PERIODONTICS
The department has 34 dental chairs in undergraduate section and 9 dental chairs in
postgraduate section and 2 dental chairs in minor OT, with 50% chairs equipped with the latest
ultrasonic scalars and 25% with air polisher. The department is well equipped with surgical and
implant instruments and lasers.

Non-surgical procedures like routine scaling, flap surgery , advance periodontal surgeries like
guided tissue regeneration (GTR), bone grafting, perio-plastic surgeries and esthetic surgeries like
root coverage, frenectomy, vestibuloplasty, placement of dental implants and advance implant
surgeries like Guided Bone regeneration (GBR), ridge expansion and sinus lift are carried out in this
department. There is a separate minor OT section in the department with implantology and micro-
surgery units. The department encourages & help students to carry out research and scientific
presentations. Additional training course on lasers in periodontics follows all the SOP’s (Standard
operation protocols).

DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATIVE DENTISTRY AND ENDODONTICS


The department has separate undergraduate clinic with 17 manual and 17 electrical dental
chairs and 8 electrical chairs in post graduate clinic. Well-equipped preclinical lab with phantom
heads laboratory are available for undergraduates. Separate plaster lab, sterilization room, full-
fledged laboratory with work in metal and tooth coloured restoration, induction furnace-metal lab,
separate ceramic lab is available in department. Department deals with root canal treatment and
restorations with facilities like RVG, phosphor plate, vertical, thermoplasticised gutta percha-B FILL
and Denjoy system, rotary endodontic system, endosonic and respisonic, LED light curing unit. The
department has Endo surgical unit with dental operating microscope.

As this is COVID Era, additional precautions are followed to curb the spread of infection.
Undergraduate students treat patients in separate well ventilated clinic as aerosol procedures are
performed following proper personal protective equipment (PPE)kits, which is fundamental element
that forms effective barrier against aerosols and separate doffing and donning rooms. Isolated well
ventilated separate room for performing aerosol procedures for postgraduate students and other
non-aerosol follow up procedures are performed in postgraduate clinic.

Every year Cons and Endo day is celebrated on March 5th with motive to create awareness about
our specialty.
DEPARTMENT OF PAEDIATRIC AND PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY
The Pedodontics’ team efficiently treats the children by
understanding their emotional and cognitive needs, which
requires a completely different approach. The department is
very well equipped with all the latest amenities and clinical
material to train the students efficiently. The department of
pedodontics and preventive dentistry includes reception area
sterilization room, counseling room for interaction with the
parents about the importance of child oral health, staff room,
undergraduate section with well-equipped 20 dental chairs and
attached soft toys, waiting lounge and play area for better
distraction of child. The clinical section is designed in a way to
avoid aerosol dispersion in an isolated area with exhaust fans to deal with the pandemic situation.
The patients are provided with PPE kit and social distancing is maintained. Department conducts
various free oral screening for school children with brief presentation of tooth brushing technique
and oral hygiene instructions.
DEPARTMENT OF ORTHODONTICS AND DENTOFACIAL ORTHOPAEDICS
The department of Orthodontics and
dentofacial orthopedics is well-equipped with
modern clinical equipment and fully programmed
dental chairs including ultrasonic scaler, light curing
unit and 3-way syringes and high standard materials.
The department has exclusive dry and wet labs,
seminar hall, computer station, and exclusive digital
photography room and department library. Department possess a specialized software application
like FACAD to provide powerful imaging capabilities and develop comprehensive treatment plan.
Department also provides an advanced course on Damon passive self-ligating system. Faculties and
students are encouraged to participate in academic programme and also promote research activities
to publish in National and International Journals. During this pandemic to meet continuing education
requirement interactive live webinars was conducted. The department works multidisciplinary to
render orthodontic care for cleft lip and palate and craniofacial anomalies in patients

DEPARTMENT OF PROSTHODONTICS
The Department of Prosthodontics has
got clinical and pre-clinical section for both
undergraduates and postgraduates. The
undergraduate clinical section has got 34 fully
equipped dental chairs. The Pre-clinical section
has got 50 phantom Heads and 72 working
tables. The department has separate Post
Graduate section with 8 fully equipped dental
chairs, seminar room and Implant section with 4 implant system kits and RVG. The various
procedures carried out in the department include complete & partial removable dentures, cast
partial dentures, fixed partial dentures, full veneer, full ceramic, porcelain fuse to metal and
maxillofacial Prosthesis and implants. The department has well-established laboratory to carry out
these procedures with semi adjustable articulators with Face Bow, dewaxing units, acrylizing units,
wax burn out furnaces, pre heating furnaces, surveying unit, induction casting machine,
programmable porcelain furnace with vacuum pump, ultrasonic cleaners & vacuum machine.

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH DENTISTRY


The specialty of Public Health Dentistry
endorses preventing, controlling oral diseases and
promoting oral health through organized
community efforts and commits the highest quality
of comprehensive dental care to individuals and
communities with professional expertise for the
benefit of the public. The specialty strives to
emphasize the importance of oral health by serving
outreach programmes to urban and rural communities by using state of art mobile dental van, along
with numerous models, charts on oral health and diseases which are utilized to educate the people
about good oral hygiene, early diagnosis of diseases and early screening and treatments. The
department conducts various outreach programmes like general camps, school camps, denture
camps, rallies and street plays. The department manages satellite dental clinic at Uplaon village of
Kalaburagi district and provide the necessary treatments.
DEPARTMENT OF ORAL PATHOLOGY AND MICROBIOLOGY
The department of Oral Pathology
and Microbiology cadres in the field of
academics, research and diagnosis. The first
exposure for the 1st year BDS student to the
field of dentistry is laid here. 1st to 3rd year
UG students are trained in this department
with respect to tooth anatomy, histology,
physiology and pathology. Postgraduates are
trained to excel in the field of diagnosis and research. The department has dental clinic with four
dental chairs and sterilization unit. The department is well equipped with 50 monocular
microscopes, 12 binocular microscopes, 1 trinocular with adapter for photomicrography, 1
stereomicroscope and 1 research microscope. The department has approximately 2760 microscopic
slides and teaching aids like overhead projectors, slide projectors and LCD screen. The department
museum houses numerous wet specimens, cast and tooth specimen. The department also maintains
a separate library. Diagnostic procedures in the fields of cytology, biopsy and hematology are carried
out in the department and also advanced methods such as immunohistochemical staining. The
specialty of department is screening and reporting of excisional specimen of oral cancer. The
students are also trained with the applications and scope of forensic sciences. The department is
also actively involved in conducting anti-ragging and orientation programs every year. Every year
National Oral Pathologist day is celebrated on 25th February with the motive to create awareness
about our specialization.
MEDICAL DEPARTMENTS

This section deals with basic science subjects, i.e., Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry,
Pharmacology, General Pathology and Microbiology, General Medicine and General Surgery. The
respective departments have well-furnished laboratories fostered with qualified medical staff.

DEPARTMENT OF ANATOMY
The department deals with the knowledge of the anatomy of head and neck region. Department has
a demonstration room with laboratory for general histology slides equipped with audiovisual aids.
The department is fostered with dissection room and cadavers.

DEPARTMENT OF PHYSIOLOGY
The department deals with knowing the interaction between body system to maintain
homeostasis. Department is well equipped with laboratory facilities, investigation equipment and
model charts for RBC count, WBC count, differential WBC count, Hb estimation, determination of
bleeding time and clotting time.

DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY
The department deals with understanding different biochemical laboratory test and
knowledge to interpret and correlate clinically. The department has developed laboratory with
chemicals, instruments to perform common tests like blood sugar, urea and creatinine etc.
DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL AND DENTAL PHARMACOLOGY
The department deals with the concept of rational drug therapy in general and dental
pharmacology and therapeutics. The department is functional with all equipments, materials and
instruments needed for preparing drugs.

DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL PATHOLOGY


The department emphasizes on pathology of human body system at macroscopic and
microscopic level.

DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL MICROBIOLOGY


The department deals with understanding the morphology and physiology of different
microorganisms and also immunology. The department is equipped with microscopes, different
stains and culture media. The department is involved in training students with different staining
techniques and culture methods.

DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL MEDICINE


The department stresses on proper knowledge about the clinical aspects of human body.
The college has a MOU with KBN medical college and hospital for General Medicine practical
training.

DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SURGERY


The department stresses on proper knowledge about the surgical aspects involved in the
treatment of various pathologies. The college has a MOU with KBN medical college and hospital for
General Surgery practical training.

GENERAL HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY, NUTRITION DIETICS

CO1 : List the functions of various organ systems of human body and the pathophysiology of all
the disorders.
CO2 : Explain pathophysiology of common diseases like hypertension, diabetes and endocrinal
disorders and physiological basis of treatment of various diseases.
CO3 : To understand the biochemical changes at molecular level in health and disease and their
clinical consequences.

interaction of body response to different types of medical manifestations.
CO2 : To familiarize with the pathologies that effect human body.
CO3 : Acquire the knowledge of immune reactions and different types of hypersensitivity reactions.
CO4 : To know the different types of Bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites , infections caused by
them and their laboratory diagnosis.

GENERAL AND DENTAL PHARMACOLOGY AND THERAPEUTICS

CO1 : Explain pharmacological basis of prescribing medication in compromised medical situations
such as pregnancy, lactation, infancy and old age.
CO2 : Describe the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of essentials and commonly used
drugs in general and dental pharmacology.

diagnosis before final treatment plan.

aspects of any case and have sound critical reasoning for management & determining the

ORAL PATHOLOGY AND MICROBIOLOGY


Course Outcomes: Undergraduate
CO1 : Describe the pathological processes that involve the oral cavity with their clinical
manifestations and differential diagnosis.
CO2 : Discuss teeth abnormalities with the help of specimens and plaster casts.
CO3 : Discuss the oral manifestations of systemic diseases co-relating with physical signs and lab
findings.
CO4 : Histopathological evaluation of diseases affecting oral and maxillofacial region
C05 : Describe the various methods used in forensic odontology.
Course Outcomes: Postgraduate
CO1 : Basic knowledge of anatomy, histology, biochemistry, physiology pathology, microbiology
of oral and para-oral structures including biostatistics and research methodology.
CO2 : Understand the pathological processes of oral diseases, compare and diagnose based on
clinical, radiological and histopathological findings including molecular aspects.
CO3 : Basic knowledge on laboratory chemicals and equipments and they should be able to
perform the preparation of ground sections, oral smears and histology slides including
advanced techniques.
CO4 : Student should be able to identify and diagnose the diseases based on microscopy and
write a report on oral diseases /lesion.

ORAL MEDICINE AND RADIOLOGY


Course Outcomes: Undergraduate
CO1 : To know significance of case history recording, develop skills in extra oral and intra oral
examination, local examination, build provisional diagnosis, investigations, final diagnosis,
prognosis and formulate treatment plan.
CO2 : Theoretical, clinical and practical knowledge of all mucosal lesions, oral cancer, infections, TMJ disorders,
Orofacial pain, cysts and tumors, oral manifestations of systemic diseases, syndromes, maxillofacial
trauma, diagnostic procedures pertaining to them and latest information of imaging modules, evidence
based management, dental considerations and management of medically compromised patients
CO3 : To understand the basics of radiation physics, effects of radiation on living tissues, radiation
safety measures, X-ray films, accessories like grids, screen use and function, concept of
manual and digital processing , principles of projection and understand and perform various
intra-oral radiographic techniques
Course Outcomes: Postgraduate
CO1 : Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the applied anatomy of the face, oral cavity,
head and neck, the physiology and biochemistry, pathology and microbiology, and the
pharmacologic applications including research methodology and biostatistics.
CO2 : Proficiency in general physical examination of the patient, detailed examination of the oral and
para-oral structures through established standard protocols by evaluation of dental and
medical history, systemic examination identification of pathologies through chair side and
advanced investigations, diagnosis, prevention and evidence based management.
CO3 : Outline the principles clinical and radiographic aspects of Forensic odontology.
CO4 : Develop research skills in handling scientific problems pertaining to oral treatment, Didactic
skills in encouraging younger doctors to attain learning objectives

ORTHODONTICS AND DENTOFACIAL ORTHOPEDICS
Course Outcome: Undergraduates
CO1 : Define Orthodontics, process of normal growth and development of dentition and associated
craniofacial structures. Differentiate the abnormality in the growth process in dental, skeletal
and soft tissues of the craniofacial region and discuss their clinical implications.
CO2 : Describe the aims and objectives of orthodontic treatment and design the treatment for
preventive, interceptive and corrective procedures.
CO3 : Demonstrate the skills to make upper and lower dental arch impressions, prepare the study
casts, perform model analyses and interpret the results, demonstrate effective
communication skills for interactions with patients as well as professional peers. Recognize
the apprehension and psychological status of the patient/parents having orthodontic
problems.
Course Outcome : Postgraduate
CO1 : Knowledge of applied basic science, prenatal and postnatal growth of head, bone growth,
assessment of growth, muscles of mastication, development of dentition and occlusion.
applied physiology, genetics and physical anthropology.
CO2 : Applied research methodology about experimental design, animal experimental protocol,
principles in the development, execution and interpretation of methodologies in
orthodontics, critical scientific appraisal of literature and biostatistics.

stomatognathic system during orthodontic treatment and factors affecting the long stability
of orthodontic correction and their management.

PAEADIATRIC AND PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY


Course Outcome: Undergraduate
CO1 : Identification & differentiation of primary and permanent teeth clinically and
radiographically and its numbering system.
CO2 : Distinguish between various stages of common oral diseases and describe the growth and
development of a child in terms of physical , behavioral emotional and intelligence.
CO3 : Management of child behavior in dental clinic and instill positive dental attitude in child.
CO4 : Formulate a preventive treatment strategy for dental caries and management of emergency
traumatic injuries in children.
CO5 : Design appliance for orthodontic procedures in children and identification of victims of child
abuse and neglect.

PROSTHODONTICS AND CROWN AND BRIDGE


Course Outcomes: Undergraduate
CO1 : Adequate knowledge of dental materials based on their properties and uses.
CO2 : Perform all preclinical exercises to facilitate entry to clinics.
CO3 : Acquire knowledge of necessary clinical and lab procedure

CONSERVATIVE DENTISTRY AND ENDODONTICS
Course Outcomes: Undergraduate
CO1 : Identify and manipulate different restorative materials.
CO2 : Diagnose cases and manage cavity preparation and restoration in patients independently in
clinical postings
CO3 : Diagnose the conservative /endodontics cases.
CO4 : Organize the clinical setting independently.

Course outcomes: Postgraduate


CO1 : Describe aetiology, pathophysiology, periapical diagnosis and management of restorative,
endodontic situations that will include contemporary management of dental caries,
management of trauma and pulpal pathoses including periodontal situations and recognize
conditions that may require multi-disciplinary approach outside the realm of the specialty
and able to recognize and refer to appropriate specialist.
CO2 : Perform all levels of restorative work, surgical and non-surgical endodontics including
periapical surgeries, management of avulsed tooth, endodontic endosseous implants, pulp
regenerative techniques as well as endodontic-periodontal surgical procedures as part of
multidisciplinary approach to clinical condition using contemporary techniques and methods.
CO3 : Update himself/herself by self-study and by attending basic and advanced courses,
conferences, seminars, and workshops in the specialty of Conservative Dentistry&
Endodontics, Dental Materials and Restorative Dentistry
CO4 : Use information technology tools and carry out research both basic and clinical with the aim
of publishing his/her work and presenting the same at scientific platform.
CO5 : Provide basic life-saving support in emergency situations.
CO6 : Ability to teach, guide, colleagues, and other students.

ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY


Course Outcomes: Undergraduate
CO1 : Acquire knowledge and understanding of etiology, patho-physiology, diagnosis and treatment
planning of various oral and maxillofacial surgical problems.
CO2 : Understand the general surgical principles, including pain management.
CO3 : Acquire knowledge of infection control, prevention of cross infection and hospital waste
management.
CO4 : Learn to examine a patient and record blood pressure, use of different instruments and
different injection techniques.
CO5 : Learn extraction of mobile and firm teeth; as well as trans-alveolar extraction of root stumps
and surgical removal of simple impacted teeth, management of dento-alveolar fractures with
arch bar fixation, eyelets and inter-maxillary fixations

Course Outcomes: Postgraduate


CO1 : Understand basic sciences relevant to practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
CO2 : Learn to obtain proper clinical history, methodical examination of the patient, perform
essential diagnostic procedures and order relevant laboratory tests and interpret them and
to arrive at a reasonable diagnosis about the surgical condition.
CO3 : Acquire adequate knowledge and understanding of the etiology, patho-physiology, diagnosis
and treatment planning of various common oral and maxillofacial surgical problems, both
minor and major in nature.
CO4 : Understand the general surgical principles of pre and postsurgical management, particularly
evaluation, postsurgical care, fluid and electrolyte management, blood transfusion and
postsurgical pain management.
CO5 : Perform with competence minor oral surgical procedures and common maxillofacial surgical
problems. To treat both surgically and medically (or by other means of the oral and
maxillofacial and the related area).
CO6 : Acquire essential knowledge of infection control, prevention of cross infection and safe
disposal of hospital waste to prevent the spread of Hepatitis and HIV.
CO7 : Develop attitude to adopt ethical principles in all aspects of surgical practice. Professional
honesty and integrity are to be fostered. Surgical care is to be delivered irrespective of the
social status, caste, creed or religion of the patient.

PERIODONTOLOGY
Course outcomes: Undergraduate
CO1 : Describe and diagnose periodontal diseases and conditions.
CO2 : Identify the relationship between the periodontal diseases and the various medical
conditions.
CO3 : Differentiate between different periodontal diseases
CO4 : Instruct the patient on how to maintain proper periodontal health

Course outcomes: Postgraduate


CO1 : Should have a basic knowledge on research methodology ,biostatistics and be able to apply
it in various research projects as well as dissertations.
CO2 : Should have a understanding on the normal structure of periodontium and the contributing
etiological factors resulting in the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases and be able to apply
this knowledge in the diagnosis.
CO3 : Should be able to record indices and plan out epidemiological survey to assess the
prevalence and incidence of early onset periodontitis and adult periodontitis in Indian
Population.
CO4 : Should have an updated knowledge on the recent advancements and be able to modify
their treatment accordingly.
CO5 : Should be aware of the various designs and placement of oral implants and follow up of
implant restorations.
CO6 : Should be knowledgeable to provide clinical care for patients with complex problems that
are beyond the treatment skills of general dentist and demonstrate evaluative and
judgment skills in making appropriate decision regarding prevention, correction and
referral to deliver comprehensive care to patients.

PUBLIC HEALTH DENTISTRY


Course Outcome: Undergraduate
CO1 : At the conclusion of the course the student shall have a knowledge of the basis of public
health, preventive dentistry, public health problems in India, nutrition, environment and
their role in health, basics of dental statistics, epidemiological methods, National oral health
policy with emphasis on oral health policy.
CO2 : The students shall have require at the skill of identifying health problems affecting the
society, conducting health surveys, conducting health education classes and deciding health
strategies. Students should develop a positive attitude towards the problems of the society
and must take responsibilities in providing health.
CO3 : At the conclusions of the course the student should be able to communicate the needs of
the community efficiently, inform the society of all the recent methodologies in preventing
oral diseases.
ADDITIONAL COURSES
The college conducts various add-on courses which are open to all the students like Basic
Dental Implantology, Rotary Endodontics, Forensic Odontology, Dental photography and Periodontal
Surgery

Value added courses like scientific writing skills, advanced microscopy techniques, basic
research methodology, laws in dentistry, soft skills and personality development, time and stress
management, patient counselling, interviewing skills and gender sensitization programs are
conducted at regular intervals in the college.

Training programs like basic life support, management of medical emergencies, suturing
techniques, lasers in periodontal, tobacco cessation methods, basic rotary endodontics, esthetic
dentistry and impression techniques, infection control and sterilization and biomedical waste
management are also executed in the college.

FACILITIES
Triage Area
Covid Pandemic era led to a change in the college. Triage area is established in the college.
Temperature and oxygen saturation is checked for each and every patient and staff with mandatory
face mask. Patients are given disposable gowns, gloves and head covers. PPE kits are made available
to the treating doctors. Sanitizers are provided at distant locations throughout the college.
Fumigation and repeated disinfection is done throughout the college to maintain sterility in the
premise. Social distancing is the prime requisite in the college.

Library
The library with its modern collection of
knowledge resources and innovative information services
fills an essential role for students and faculty. The library
houses 2899 books, 44 online journals and 800 back
volumes of national and international journals, subscribes
to E-journals and E-books. Library is an extremely
important primary support service and the associated facilities & services are indispensable in
support of learning, teaching and research. This basic necessity has been recognized and the
methodology of developing and using the library and library-associated services is also established. It
is well facilitated with computers connected to high bandwidth Wi-Fi. Library is upgraded with
EasyLib library software for easy online accessibility.

Hostels
Hostel facilities are provided for both boys and girls with well-equipped rooms for double/triple
occupancy and halls for comfortable reading, dining and recreational activities. .Breakfast, lunch and
special dinner is provided by the mess comprising of both North and South Indian food items Special
food is served for festivals to make the students get festive vibes.

Lecture halls
College has spacious lecture halls with advanced audiovisual aids. Lecture halls are equipped with
comfortable seating and projector facilities.
Exam halls
College has well designed examination halls with CCTV facilities. Examination halls are well
ventilated with proper and comfortable seating for the students. College examination halls are fitted
with network jammers to maintain security.

Auditorium
The institute has a state of the art huge auditorium used on several occasions such as
Graduation ceremony, Orientation programme, Anti Ragging workshops, Fresher’s party, Felicitation
functions, Alumni events, Major department level events, CDE programs, webinars and cultural
events.

Transport
The campus is in the heart of the
city with good connectivity. The college
provides transportation facility for both
students and staff. There are sufficient
buses which take care of commutation of
the students.

Canteen
College premises has a well maintained hygienic canteen having well-arranged seating area with
clean surroundings.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
 I.D. cards shall be provided to the students at the beginning of the academic session. Students
are expected to wear uniform with neat and clean apron in the college.
 Students shall maintain strict discipline in the college premise. They should not misbehave with
staff and fellow students. Any indiscipline will be dealt seriously.
 The candidate pursing BDS course should have 75% attendance compulsory both in theory and
practical/ clinicals to become eligible for University Examination.
 Passing criteria minimum of 50% marks has to be obtained in theory as well as practical
examination
 Use of mobile phones in the classrooms, library, labs and clinics is strictly prohibited.
 Cleanliness to be maintained in the college premises. Damage to the college property is liable to
be fined from the students.
 Students are prohibited from organizing or attending meetings in college, distributing notices,
collecting money and exhibiting banners, flags, posters etc without the permission of the
Principal.

Rules and Regulations regarding ragging


The college comprises of Anti-ragging committee and Anti-ragging squad which carries out routine
surprise checks in the college, hostel and campus, conducts orientation and counselling sessions to
the students and appraises the serious consequences of ragging as per law.

Following actions will be taken by the college against students involved in ragging:
 Students will be suspended from college activities like classes, clinics and labs
 Students will be exempted from workshops, conferences, seminars etc
 Students will not be eligible for any scholarships or awards from the college.
 F.I.R will be lodged with police against them.
