Lesson 4 - Non-Membrane-bound Organelles

The document provides the lesson plan for a 12th grade General Biology class on non-membrane bound organelles. The objectives are for students to identify, describe the functions of, and reflect on the advantages of non-compartmentalization of non-membrane bound organelles. Learning activities include a video presentation, group discussions, a class presentation, a table-filling activity, and an evaluation. Accommodations are made for students without access to online resources.

I. Evaluating learning Choose the letter of the best answer. Write answer on a separate sheet of paper.
1. A centriole is an organelle that is ___.
a. part of a chromosome
(EVALUATE)
b. surrounded by a membrane
c. present in the center of a cell’s cytoplasm
d. composed of microtubules and important for organizing spindle fibers.
2. Where can you find ribosomes?
a. only in plant cells c. only in prokaryotic cells
b. only in eukaryotic cells d. both prokaryotic and eukaryotic
3. Which of the following is TRUE of non-membrane-bound organelles?
a. Since they are so small, they do not need a plasma membrane
b. Since they do not have fluid interiors, they do not need a plasma membrane
c. Since they are all so similar to each other, they do not need a plasma membrane
d. All of these are true.
4. Chromosome movement in mitosis and meiosis is regulated by ___.

V. REMARKS In the case of learners who have limited resources and special
needs that hinders them to join the synchronous online class, the
teacher will identify those students and facilitates their special
needs by customizing printed modules, provide recorded online
classes, upload e-modules and instructional materials in a learning
management software/platform for asynchronous online learning.
Also, a flexible time will be given to those students for them to have
enough time to attend to their e-modules and submit it.
VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation
B. No. of learners who require additional activities for
remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners
who have caught up with the lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require
remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why
did these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my
principal or supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I
use/discover which I wish to share with other
teachers?
