A FAMOUS BUILDING
 Governor’s House
Famous buildings on the earth are quaint with their own
majesty and great histories. Of all the famous buildings,
Governor’s House in Pyin-Oo-Lwin will be one of the famous
buildings in the world.
 A Brief History About Governor’s House
Throughout the history, Pyin-Oo-Lwin had two dozen
household. Then, Colonel May established a permanent army
base. Pyin-Oo-Lwin is a spot to escape from high heat and
humidity weather. Also, it is easily reachable by car or by train
or even by flight. Therefore, government offices moved to this
area in the summer. Then, Governor’s House (Summer Palace
for British Burma) had built in 1896 and finished in 1903. 6
governors lived there until 1943. The first governor was Sir A.H
Barnes and the last Governor was Sir Damon Smith. As it was

built on the hill, it was known as Governor’s Hill. In 1943 it was

damaged because of Japanese’s invasion.
Although it was damaged, Htoo Group of Companies
reconstructed it to the original design with the help of British
Council in 2003.

 Why you should visit Governor’s House?

Nowadays, it attracts
numerous local and foreign
visitors with charming and
splendid culture. Moreover, it
becomes a tourist attraction to
explore the histories around
1896. Also, two cars which are
black and white are vibrantly
standing out in front of
Governor’s House. I have heard they were ancient cars. If you
visited there, you would be astounded. I strongly believe
Governor’s House is the world’s famous building.
