• The marker mute control temporarily overrides the marker beacon selection and
mutes the marker beacon audio.
The Flight Guidance System (FGS) displays that show on each PFD are the FGS mode/
data elds and the Flight Director (FD) command bars. The mode messages and data
show above the attitude ball on each PFD when either FD is selected or the Autopilot
(AP) is engaged. The FD command bars show in magenta over or about the aircraft
symbol in the attitude ball.
To satisfy FD steering commands, the miniature aircraft symbol in the center of the
attitude display is own towards the V-bars so that the upper edge of the aircraft
symbol is ush with the bottom of the V-bars.
The single-cue FD command bars are selectable from the CONFIG submenu through
the PFD MENU.
The horizontal bar represents pitch and the vertical bar represents roll.
The command bars move up and down to command a climb or descent, and move
right and left to command a right or left bank.
To satisfy FD steering commands, the miniature aircraft symbol in the center of the
attitude display is own towards the cross bars so that the bars are centered within the
aircraft symbol.
The split-cue FD command bars are selectable from the CONFIG submenu through the
PFD MENU.
The FGS Vertical mode messages and the associated function are as follows:
The NNNN portion of the Vertical Speed mode message indicates the selected vertical
speed value.
The NNNN portion of the FLC message indicates the selected speed bug value.
Half Bank mode is automatically selected when climbing through 27,884 feet or when
the ight director is rst turned on above 27,884 feet. The 1/2 BANK button on the FGP
is used to manually select Half Bank mode.
Half Bank mode is automatically cancelled upon descent through 27,884 feet. Half
Bank mode is automatically cancelled during NAV mode capture or track, B/C mode
capture or track, and when Takeo or Go-Around modes are active. The 1/2 BANK
button on the FGP is used to manually deselect Half Bank mode.
The Con guration (CONFIG) menu provides controls for selectable preferences.

The Vspeeds are selected for display using the References (REFS) submenu through
the PFD MENU.
Vspeeds are grouped on the REFS menu pages into takeo speeds and approach
speeds. Power-up (default) Vspeed values, FMS calculated Vspeed values, or manually
adjusted Vspeed values may be selected to show on the airspeed scale.
When selected for display, the Vspeed values show at the associated airspeed on the
airspeed scale.
Airspeed References
V1, VR, and V2 are automatically removed from the
airspeed scale when the current airspeed reaches
200 knots.
For example, if V2 is set rst, and VR is set to a higher speed, the system drags the V2
value up to equal the VR value. In the same manner, once the VAP value is set to equal
VRF, continued counterclockwise operation of the DATA knob has no e ect on the VAP
value.
The Vspeed values are synchronized. A value set on either the pilot or the copilot-side
shows on both sides.
Airspeed Display
The airspeed display is made up of a vertical airspeed scale, a xed position pointer,
and a digital readout of the current airspeed readout. The digital readout is located
inside the xed pointer. Range for the airspeed scale is 40 to 400 knots. Airspeeds
below 40 knots show as two green dashes.
A digital readout of the current Mach shows part time below the airspeed scale. The
Mach display comes into view when Mach is .450 and goes out of view when Mach is
less than .400.

The altitude display is a moving altitude scale with a xed position pointer. The
equivalent metric value of barometric altitude can be selected to show in addition to
the display of altitude in feet.
Barometric pressure setting, FL180 alert, preselect altitude alert, FMS ight plan target
altitude, and a radio altitude/barometric pressure minimum readout also show on the
PFD. A ight deck mounted ADC reversion switch is used to select the on-side
barometric altitude source.
The FMS Plan Map is a xed, true north-up stationary map that graphically depicts the
active FMS ight plan. The active ight plan is represented by ight plan waypoints and
ight plan legs. Background navaid symbology is available for display on the FMS. The
ight crew can de ne waypoints on the FMS Plan Map in the same manner as on the
Present Position (PPOS) Map. A moving aircraft symbol is positioned geographically on
the map based on inputs from the FMS and is oriented in accordance with the current
aircraft heading. The map center is a latitude and longitude selected by the FMS. The
map radius is selected with the RANGE knob on the DCP. An extended Plan Map
format is available for display that provides increased forward viewing area.
Map Symbols
Background symbols are made up of user
selected symbology that shows geometrically
correct on the map. The MAP SYMBOLS menu is
used to select map background symbology for
display on the FMS PPOS and PLAN (for
example, nearest airports).
The Multifunction Display (MFD) panels can display the following information:
• Aircraft systems
• Map formats
• Lighting
The EICAS is a dual, independent system made up of a Data Concentrator Unit (DCU)
and the display and control portion of the EFIS. Inputs to the DCU include analog and
discrete data from both engine Full Authority Digital Electronic Control (FADEC)
interfaces, other aircraft subsystems (for example, ap position) and operator input.
Compressed View
The Engine Indicating System (EIS) display includes analog displays for Interstage
Turbine Temperature (ITT), Low Pressure Rotary Shaft Speed (Fan Speed) (N1), and
High Pressure Rotary Shaft Speed (Turbine Speed) (N2). Digital displays for oil
pressure, oil temperature, and fuel ow, fuel quantity, and fuel temperature also show
within the EIS display.
Engine information normally shows only on the MFD. When a pilot-side display is

on each N1 scale. The N1 reference readout is cyan. The N1 reference readout is the
lowest displayed N1 reference bug value that is selected from an engine in TO thrust
mode.
The N1 reference bug is cyan when selected from the Full Authority Digital Electronic
Control (FADEC) channel that is not in control. The N1 reference bug is yellow when
selected from the FADEC channel that is in control.
Thrust Mode
A Thrust mode message shows inside the N1 scales when a valid takeo Engine Thrust
mode is received from the FADEC. Valid messages show in green and invalid
messages show in white. The message is TO when the Thrust mode is takeo , CLB
when the Thrust mode is maximum climb (maximum continuous), and CRU when the
Thrust mode is maximum cruise.
ITT Display
The Interstage Turbine Temperature (ITT) display is a vertical analog scale with pointer
for each engine. Range for the ITT analog scale is 100° to 1,050° Celsius. A yellow
caution band shows on the ITT scale at the transient limit range. The redline marker
shows on the ITT scale at the redline limit.
The pointer is white when ITT is in the normal range. The pointer is red when ITT is in
the yellow range for more than the time limit or within the redline limit region. The
pointer ashes for 5 seconds when it rst changes to red.
The message IGN (Ignition) shows on the left or right side of the ITT scale to indicate
the left or right engine ignition switch is in the ON position.
N2
A digital readout of the engine turbine RPM (N2) shows full time. N2 is measured
against a xed 100 percent value. Range for the N2 readout is 0 to 120 percent.

the caution limit, and red when N2 is in the redline limit region. The N2 readout ashes
for 5 seconds when it rst enters the redline limit region.
The oil pressure display is made up of a full time analog scale and moving pointer, and
a part time digital readout of the oil pressure for each engine. The oil pressure analog
scale shows only in the normal EIS format. The analog scale is divided into colour
sections to indicate the normal, transient (caution), and redline ranges. Range of the
analog readout is from 0 to 150 psi.
The pointer is green when oil pressure is within the normal range, yellow when oil
pressure is in the transient limit region, and red when oil pressure is in the redline limit
region. The pointer ashes for 5 seconds when it rst changes colour to red.
The part time oil pressure digital readout shows when the oil pressure is in the yellow
or red ranges. Range of the digital readout is 0 to 300 psi.
The oil temperature display is made up of a full time analog scale and moving pointer,
and a part time digital readout of the oil temperature for each engine. The oil
temperature analog scale shows only in the normal EIS format.
The oil temperature scale is divided into colour sections to indicate the normal,
transient (caution), and redline ranges. Range is from 0° to 160° Celsius.
The pointer is green when oil temperature is within the normal range, yellow when oil
temperature is in the transient limit region, and red when oil temperature is in the
redline limit region. The pointer ashes for 5 seconds when it rst changes colour to
red.
The fuel temperature display is made up of a digital readout of the temperature of the
fuel in each wing tank. Range of the readout is -64° to 64° Celsius. The readout is
green when fuel temperature is within normal limits.
The fuel ow display is a green digital readout of the fuel ow for each engine. Fuel
ow is usually measured in Pounds Per Hour (PPH).
The display may optionally be con gured to show fuel ow in kilograms per hour (kph).
Range of the readout is 0 to 2,500 pph (0 to 1,135 kph).
The fuel quantity display shows the amount of fuel in each wing tank. When the normal
(expanded) EIS Display mode is active, the display is made up of a digital readout for
each tank. When the compressed EIS Display mode is active the display is made up of
a digital readout for each tank.
Fuel quantity is usually measured in Pounds (lbs). The display may optionally be
con gured to show fuel quantity in Kilograms (kgs). The fuel quantity digital readout
shows in green when fuel is not low. Range for the fuel quantity digital readout is 0 to
3,000 lbs (0 to 1,360 kgs).
