INTRODUCTION

LAPTOP:

• A laptop or laptop computer, is a small, portable personal computer (PC) with a "clamshell"
form factor, typically having a thin LCD or LED computer screen mounted on the inside of the
upper lid of the clamshell and an alphanumeric keyboard on the inside of the lower lid.

• The clamshell is opened up to use the computer. Laptops are folded shut for transportation,
and thus are suitable for mobile use.
TYPES OF LAPTOPS:

I. Notebook (aka laptop) : The general term for a full-sized laptop that strikes a balance between
portability and functionality.

II. Ultraportable: Thin, light laptops designed for mobility are often described as ultraportable
(also sometimes called a subnotebook).

III. Ultrabook: Ultrabook is a term coined by computer chipmaker Intel for a special type of
ultraportable notebook

IV. Chromebook: Chromebooks run the ChromeOS (which is based on Linux) operating system.
These are designed to work primarily with web apps and data being saved to the Cloud rather
than on the laptop itself.

V. MacBook: Apple's laptop computers come in two families – the ultra-thin MacBook Air, and
the high-performance MacBook Pro in 13-inch and 16-inch sizes (the latter recently replacing
the 15-inch size).

VI. Convertible (2-in-1): These combine the features of a laptop and a tablet. They're also known
as 2-in-1 laptops or hybrids .

redesigned with RISC technology.

CompassLearning in north-eastern Pennsylvania during the 2005-2006 school year, the second
year of the program, in order to inform policy and planning for the program. CompassLearning
is instructional software that can be accessed online, and 10 it provides digital learning activities
aligned with standards, direct instruction, independent practice, and support.

• Hillside Middle School. A case study was conducted with two math and science teachers who
taught at a middle school in Maine where the Maine Learning Technology Initiative (MLTI)
