Course Description
This course covers client-server environment of computer network. Discussions include network
services, device configuration, back-up and restore, process/task automation, file system.
Topics on internetworking services include Domain Name Service (DNS) Network File Sharing
(NFS), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Web, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (HDCP) and
Proxy Service. ​Course Credit 3 Units – Lecture Contact Hours per Week 3 Hours – Lecture
Pre-Requisite Course/s 4​TH ​Year Standing

Course Intended Learning Outcomes ​1. Identify the functions of client and server in
client server environment. 2. Install, maintain and troubleshoot client-server
environment. 3. Discuss the requirements of a good policy in providing different
services. 4. Perform different types of back-up and restore operations. 5. Enumerate the
different protocols used in the network. 6. Discuss the building blocks and guiding
principles for a successful security program.
