#5: One part of the Fellowship is the opportunity to do a “follow-on project” that you will

select and work on during the program. This project will let you use what you learned from

your virtual exchange and this Fellowship to either 1) continue learning, 2) develop

professionally, or 3) make an impact in your community. Please describe an idea you have for

what your follow on project might be.

Note: These follow-on projects could take one of many forms. For example, you could do a local community

development project, advocate/raise awareness of virtual exchanges, or pursue new learning or leadership

opportunities. This doesn't have to be final and could change before the end of the fellowship, it is only an

idea.

Video Introduction

Upload a video introduction. In this introduction you should include:

Your name

A few personal or professional interests

Your virtual exchange program

One skill or experience you gained from your virtual exchange

What you want to gain from the Fellowship (focus on one item)

This video doesn't need to be high-quality. Use whatever tools you have at your disposal to create the

video (cell phone, headphones, computer, camera, etc.). This video can be up to two minutes long, the

file size can be up to 500 MB, and the video file type should either be Audio Video Interleaved (.avi) or

MPEG-4 (.mp4).

Recommendation Letter

Please upload a letter of recommendation from a professional in your network or community. This

recommendation letter should include:

The writer's relationship to you (teacher/professor, mentor, employer, virtual exchange facilitator).

Their contact information (full name, professional affiliation, email address).

A brief description of why you should be included into this Fellowship opportunity and what you

might gain from the experience.

A statement of support for you being able to follow through on the commitment and expectations

required for the program.

This letter does not have to be from a teacher or someone associated with your exchange, but should be

from someone who knows you and can speak to your ability to follow through with commitments and how

you can gain something from this program.

Recommendations can be uploaded as Word documents or PDFs and should be written in English.

Qualifications and Expectations

I confirm that I meet the qualifications to be an Alumni Fellow listed below.

I have successfully completed a virtual exchange program sponsored by the Stevens Initiative (this

will be verified with virtual exchange program implementors).

I am at least 18 years old (or will be by 10/08/2021).

I have at least a moderate English language proficiency.

I will have reliable access to the internet and will be able to participate in the live videoconference

sessions and activities during the Fellowship.

I have access to a computer with a strong internet connection, a microphone, and webcam.

I am able to obtain a J1 visa, meaning having an active passport and the ability to travel to a U.S.

embassy or consulate for an interview.

I confirm my availability and intention to fulfill the time commitments outlined in the alumni

fellowship description, including 5-6 hours per months and to attend an in-person event in

January 2022.

Commitment and Expectations

The Fellowship can only accept a limited number of participants, and the Stevens Initiative expects full and

active participation throughout the program. Fellows will be selected carefully and should expect to spend

around 5-6 hours per month on this program, including the monthly live session and additional activities

and preparation. The success of this cohort-model training relies on engaged and attentive Fellows during

live sessions and any other group activities. Live sessions emphasize interaction rather than passive

learning. Participants are expected to do all pre-session preparation thoroughly and on time and arrive

ready to engage in activities and discussions.

Technology Support

Many of the activities for this Fellowship will take place in live videoconference. We understand that, for

some alumni, this might mean needing financial support to cover high internet data costs in your

to cover these high data costs.
