Chapter # 3: Research Methodology

This document outlines the research methodology used in a study about job satisfaction among teachers and lecturers at Bahria school and college system in Karachi, Pakistan. 3.1 Methodology:

Bahria school and college system has been targeted for research. The study is qualitative in nature. It
explores the relation between different problems faced by the employees and job satisfaction.

3.2 Population and sampling design:

Teachers and lecturers of the Bahria school and college system were taken as the population for this
research. The sample includes 200 peoples. Respondents were selected from different campuses of the
Bahria school and college system in Karachi.

3.3 Sampling Technique:

Convenient sampling technique was used for gathering data. As the researcher conducted the academic
research so; so it may not be fulfill the requirements of the proficiency. However data was collected
considering all the aspects. Therefore the implication of this thesis should be accepted.

3.4 Sample size:

Data was collected from 200 respondents. The demographic distribution of the sample is given below.

3.5 Questionnaire design:

The questionnaire consists of two parts.one consist of personal information of the respondents i.e. age,
monthly income, education etc. The second part consist of …………… inquiries on the Likert scale
(……………………………..) in order to find relation between different independent variables and a dependent
variable.

3.6 Methods of collecting data:

Primary data was collected with the help of self-structured questions.

3.7 Instrument for data collection:

Questionnaire consists of ….. questions covering all variables including dependent (satisfaction) and
independent variables (salaries, management style, communication gap, discrimination, work
distribution, performance assessment). In order to explore relation between dependent and
independent 5-pooint Likeret scale was used.

3.8 Time horizon:

Data was collected from January 2016 to February 2016.

3.9 Data analysis:

After collecting the data it was interpret and analyzed in SPSS software.
3.10 Statistical techniques:

For analyzing the data correlation and regression techniques were used and relationship was found
between dependent and independent variables.

3.11 Variables:

In this research six variables were used i.e. satisfaction, salaries, management style, communication gap,
discrimination, work distribution, performance assessment.
