1 Concrete Loading
1.1 Concrete Pressure is calculated according to the formulae published by CIRIC Report 108

Pmax = D x (C1 x R1/2 + C2 x K(H - C1 x R1/2)1/2 )

where D is the density of concrete (kN/m3)


R is the rate at which the concrete level rises in the formwork (m/hr)
d is the minimum dimension of the section (mm)
H is the overall height of the lift (m)
K is temperature coefficient = (36/(T+16))2
h is the vertical pour height

2 Structural Formula

3 Timber Design
3.1 All falsework and formwork are to be designed in accordance with BS5975:1996

Timber Grade SC4


Permissible Stresses of Timber :
a) Bending parallel to grain 8.9 N/mm2
b) Shear 1.4 N/mm2
c) Compressive perpendicular to grain 2.87 N/mm2
d) Elastic Modulus 8600 N/mm2

4 Steelwork Design
4.1 All bolts used to be of grade 4.6 unless otherwise stated and to be designed in accordance with B.S.449 :
Part 2 : 1969 clause 50, 51 and 52
Permissible Stresses :
a) Axial Tension 120 N/mm2
b) Shear 80 N/mm2 refer to Table 20
c) Bearing 250 N/mm2

5 Concrete Design
5.1 All bond stress between steel bar and concrete are to designed in accordance with B.S. 8110 Part1:1997 Clause 3.12.8.3
