This release note announces the official release of Eclipse Software Release 08.01.20. This release is a
General Availability release to the factory and field to resolve known certain issues and add two new
features.
__________________________________________________________________________________
IRU600v3EHP : Please note that upgrading to 08.01.19 (& above) sets the guaranteed output power for
the modem profile 256QAM Max Throughput at 36.5dBm at ACU antenna port for IRU600v3 HP L6/U6,
and at 32.0dBm at ACU antenna port for IRU600v3 EHP. 11GHz.
Software 8.0 incorrectly set the power level 0.5dB higher than the above figures.
The Dec.14, 2015 datasheet reflects the correct specification.

Please contact Aviat Technical Support if validation is required for direct upgrade from earlier
software versions to this release.
ProVision Support - This release is supported by ProVision Element Manager System software
version 6.11.6
Eclipse Hardware Supported
The following table details the hardware that is supported by this software and corresponding part
numbers. It is still possible to software load to a terminal with a non-supported INU or ODU
attached, but the software in the module will not be updated. For example modules such as RAC10
will function without problem after loading 08.01.20, even though no new code exists in this software
version for these old modules.

Known Issues
The following table lists known issues that have not been fixed in this release.
Ref # Issue Description
IRU 600: No Power Supply Input Failure alarm on the IRU 600 high power RFU. A TX Power
Failure alarm will occur if a valid DC input is not present on the RFU front panel DC input
ES-13267 connector, when the correct description should be a input power failure. This may result in an
incorrect diagnosis of the real problem. If a TX Power Failure alarm is present, first check the
RFU power supply voltage.
RAC 60/6X: Protection, Offline RAC removal is not errorless with several capacities. TDM
ES13994 traffic is hit when removing the off-line RAC with the following ETSI profiles: 7MHz,
13.75MHz and 27.5MHz.
RAC 60/6X: IRU600 30MHz/128QAM/OC3 : Protection switching times may exceed 200mS
ES-14546 approximately 2% of switching occurrences. This is caused by the specific timing of an RFU
Alarm during switch cycles. Note that the total average switching time is 25ms.
ODU 300 SP: Tx Fail alarm comes up and RAC front panel LEDs go red when placed in IF
ES-15029 Loopback with SP ODUs EQS-XX-XXXX-XXX identified by the serial number starting
BLBxxxxxxxx . Alarm only seen during IF Loopback.
RAC 60/6X: ANSI ACM - User can enter ACM ATPC settings that will inhibit ACM from
ES-16183
stepping up to the maximum modulation. If the max TX power setting specified is higher than
NMS : Sometimes connection fails after opening 4 or 5 portal sessions simultaneously on one
ES-25059 node. Workaround is to close session before opening others. A future release is planned to
improve this issue.
Strong Security: It should be noted that one or more of the following cipher suites should be
enabled before an upgrade to 8.1 is attempted in strong/FIPS security modes:
TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA
TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA
SSL_RSA_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA
SSL_RSA_WITH_DES_CBC_SHA
ES-25295
Strong Security users please note. The following four OpenSSL ciphers are now seen as
less secure than when first released and are therefore recommended not to be used:
TLS_DHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA
TLS_DHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA
SSL_DHE_RSA_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA
SSL_DHE_RSA_WITH_DES_CBC_SHA
DAC GE3 Protected: After sw upgrade from 07.03.56 to 08.01.19/.20, Portal shows "Error
Merging values, Primary & Secondary do not match" in OAM tab.
Sometimes after a software upgrade, Portal may show the message "Error merging values,
ES-24201
Primary and Secondary do not match" in the OAM tab of the DAC plugin.
Workaround: To eliminate this phantom error, untick and tick the Ports in the OAM tab without
clicking the 'Send' button.
8326 Coupler loss does not store to tenths of a dB (AC 8326) ES-20409
Portal: Strong secure mode: Portal displays the message "Your system ES-20436
8477
does not support Triple-DES" in backup/restore window
RAC 60/6X: High error rate at several capacities when using ODU ES-20482
10284
300SPs and some ODU 300EPs
IDU GE 20x VLAN tab (Plug-Ins page) shows/allows nothing to be ES-20550

configured
13642 Dual Diversity configuration results in "Operation Failed" message. ES-21682
IDU 300 SPE: VLAN mode strips VLAN tags off tagged frames (AC ES-14504
7866
7866)
DAC GE3: Causes DS1 errors when TCs connected and GE3 is in slot ES-20764

resolved.

They are still listed in Eclipse SW and normal operation is supported when any of these
The Compact Flash (CF) card for Eclipse holds configuration, software load, and license data. It
inserts into the side of the NCC plug-in used with the INU/INUe.
New plug-in modules, such as the RAC 60, RAC 6X,DAC GE3 and NCM, CF cards with increased
memory capacity are required and in some case new NCC cards.
Prior to July 2009, 32 Mbyte was the available capacity for Eclipse use (this is the internal partition
size programmed into the CF), and all CF cards were partitioned 32 Mb regardless of the labelled
total capacity of the CF.
Since July 2009 INUs have been shipped with CF cards with a 128 Mbyte capacity (or higher),
where the labelled capacity is the available capacity for Eclipse use.
NCC cards manufactured before January 2008 do not support access to CF cards partitioned larger
than 32Mbyte.
Before installing RAC 60, RAC 6X or DAC GE3 in an existing INU you must first check to see if
a higher capacity CF card is needed, and if so, that the NCC will also support the higher
capacity CF.
When upgrading software ensure the remote end of a link is upgraded before the local end.
If Portal loses communication with an IDU 300 SP radio when changing the IP address, restart
Portal to restore communication.
Eclipse Portal Software version 5.0 includes an upgrade to Java version 6.0. This later version
of Java provides improved memory management and operational performance. It provides a fix
for occasional low memory issues that have been reported on heavily loaded systems. It is
recommended that users install Eclipse Portal 5.0 or later from the Eclipse SW Setup CD or
from the Aviat Networks Customer Online Support site at www.support.aviatnetworks.com.
The note below, seen on Portal screens, relates to this issue.
Note that this software includes open source items and as such users have a right to access
source code. Contact [email protected] for details.
Note: ATI video cards installed with a ‘Catalyst driver’ set earlier than 4.9 will cause the Portal
performance page to stop working if the screen-saver activates. The workaround is to install the
latest video drivers from the video card manufacturer.
Aviat Networks encourages its customers to report problems so we can resolve them
as quickly as possible. If you encounter a technical issue, please contact us using
the information on page 2 of these Release Notes.
