The Use of Social Media

This generation is living in a time where it's impossible to be physically connected with every
person we know. The list of people we've known since childhood, high school, college, and
beyond is nearly endless. As a result of social media, it's impossible to have a better or more
enjoyable experience than this. Let's begin by answering the question, "What is social media?".
As a result of social media, people are able to stay in touch with their friends and family
members. In some cases, users will utilize various social media programs to network and
locate work possibilities, connect with people around the world with similar interests, and
share their own ideas, feelings, and insights online. Despite the fact that its foundation is
based on the idea of keeping in touch with friends and family, social networking websites have
had far more of an influence than their original intended purpose. This is a place where people
may interact with like-minded people, find friends and foes, and influence the world in both
positive and harmful ways. Due to these forums and degrees of communication that were
previously unimaginable, the world has become smaller than ever before. People are still
adjusting to the sheer size of the internet and the ease with which they can access information
about anybody and everyone.
It's not uncommon to hear horror stories about the negative effects of social media on young
people, such as missed career prospects or rejections from top colleges. However, if students
are taught how to use social media safely and responsibly, it can have a positive impact on
their lives. So, how can you teach your children to be good digital citizens without lecturing
them? Take the time to learn to identify what's bad and unfollow it. Keep in mind that you are
solely responsible for the information you choose to include on your website. You may use
social media to improve your life, connect with friends, generate content, and entertain
yourself and others. Alternatively, you can become accustomed to it and end up feeling
horrible about yourself as a result of being taken in by it. Controlling the content you see on
your page is a good idea, as is removing or unfollowing those who post only negative or
hateful things. It's your body's way of telling you to stop using an app or an account if you
get frustrated or nervous after spending time there. It's not good for your body to do this. To
prevent screen time from devolving into a hobby, give it a purpose. Make a list of 2-3 things
that you want to be recognized for when people search for you online. To avoid social media
becoming a pastime, this activity can help you identify your screen time purpose. It's much
easier to decide if your Instagram post or YouTube comment will help you achieve your goals
once you know what you want to be recognized for. Make your social media accounts into a
real, breathing portfolio by highlighting your best self. Using social media is a way to show
the world who you really are. How do you define who you truly are? What accolades have you
received? Those things you're really, very interested in? As a result, you should make sure
that they are the bits of material you're putting online.
To make the most of your social media presence, don't miss out on the opportunity to share
your most recent A+ paper or a project you've completed in class. Colleges want to know
more about who you are and what you want to do, so it's important to show them. Please
make an impression! In addition to a stellar academic record, they are looking for someone
who demonstrates passion, who is real, and who can make a great impact on their school.
Post positively, publish proudly!
