4. Course Description
A supply chain is comprised of all the parties involved in fulfilling a customer request
efficiently and effectively. The integrated management of this network is a critical determinant
of success in today’s competitive environment. With increasing competition around the globe,
supply chain management is both a challenge and an opportunity for companies in any
industry. Hence a strong understanding of supply chain management concepts and the ability

to recommend improvements should be in the toolbox of all managers. The objective of this
course is to introduce you to the key concepts and techniques that will allow you to analyze,
manage and improve supply chain processes for different industries and markets. At
completion of this course, you will have the skills to assess supply chain performance and
make recommendations to increase supply chain competitiveness.

5. Course Objectives
1. To provide comprehensive knowledge on the supply chain processes and its implications for the
organizations and economy
2. To identify and analysis of different facets of the supply chain, with sound conceptual and
technical skills.
3. To analyze the major slacks in the supply chain operations and identify strategies to overcome such
issues
4. To enhance and appreciate the sustainable, ethical aspects on managing supply chain operations

1. Communicating supply chain management issues as well as solutions effectively to other supply
chain partners and relevant stakeholders
2. Recognize the use and integration of other fields such as IT systems, accounting and human
resource to enhance the information, cash and material flow along the supply chain
3. Distinguish the concept of SCM, logistics management and operations managements and how they
are inter-related and their impact on business performance
4. Identify the major slacks in supply chain and identify methods and strategies to improve the
supply chain performance
5. Develop the skills of practicing scientific and critical thinking, solving SCM issues and
implementation of strategies to reduce demand amplification to increase performance, interpret and
application of the techniques on demand analysis, develop the skills to identify innovative
solutions for supply chain issues
