Task 1

- This case involves Bruce, who underwent multiple surgeries to transition from male to female but still presented as masculine and was bullied by peers. Despite dressing in feminine clothes, Bruce still felt like a boy mentally. The difficult process of determining his sexual identity led Bruce to attempt suicide. - For children born with abnormal genitals, this case implies they may face similar challenges in undergoing surgeries or needing special attention to accept their conditions. - As Bruce's parent, the author would not have agreed to the surgeries so young, but would have wanted Bruce to have a normal life and wait until he could decide his identity for himself.

John/Joan case summary of the significant details about this case involving one’s sexual identity.

-At this case , the John/Joan can make us understand more about one’s sexual identity. Bruce
undergo many surgeries to become a female , yet peers and students in his school bullied him for
being masculine. Even though he wears all girly things it is very relevant that he is still boy , not
just physically but also mentally. Bruce attempt to take his life , because for me it is just because it
is really hard to someone you’re not, it is not easy to find yourself, he cannot determine his sexual
identity.

•Reflection
1. What are the implications of Bruce’s case for the children who were born with abnormal genitals.

-They are the same , who has genital birth defects, they may also undergo some surgeries or might
need some special attention for them to love or accept who really they are, and their conditions.

2.If you were the parents of Bruce , would you do the same? Why? Why not?

-I am not in the position to judge his parents , maybe they just really love their son and to the point
that they will agree on everything that they think was the right thing to do, especially it is the doctor
who advise them or who tell them about, who are we not to trust someone who is in the medical
field right? But if I am his paren, No! Because his too young to undergo some surgeries , but I want
him to have a normal life. I will wait for the right time where he can decide or where I know he is
already capable of making right decisions, and the moment where he already knew who is he and
what he is.
